30-inch cinema display not displaying optimum resolution with OSX Lion

Does any one have this issue? I'm using apple's dual-link to mini display port adapter on my Macbook Pro and was working fine in snow leopard. I've search the internet for any known cases and figured to ask here.
 
What available resolutions do you see in the Displays system preferences? ANd have you reset PRAM etc.?

I am using the adapter with a 2011 Mac mini and I only see 1280x800 until the login screen where it switches to 2560x1600, which I find irritating.
 
I did a shut down of my Mac and then booted it up again, which for some reason I either had to do a new install of Lion or reboot from backup. I decided to do it from backup...

When I was finally able to get things running again, low and behold, my optimum resolution of 2560x1600 came back. Prior to that, it maxed out at 1280x800
