Hello all, long time lurker first time poster. I have just picked up a MBA 13" i5 at my local apple store this morning. After installing a few apps and running face-time lion crashed. I restarted only to have lion crash again and. Not sure whats up, I cannot get past the start up screen as it keeps crashing. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Boot up in safe mode, see if it is some application you installed that is launching automatically and causing the crashes.

Bring it back to your Apple Store immediately. They will fix it for free. You also have 90 days of free phone support, if that suits your needs better.

On Lion MBs you also have the Lion recovery mode. Reach it by holding down the opt/alt button att startup and chose Lion Recovery using the arrow keys och mouse. You will have options to reinstall Lion to make it work!

It's possible you have a dud. What additional software did you install and is any of it in the background? I'd suggest setting up a Genius Bar appointment and showing it to them. If they even suspect anything hardware-related they will likely just swap it with another unit at this point.

Thank you! After starting in safe mode it shows it was a panic. Safe mode works fine so far.I've installed office 2011, steam, and cs5 suite.

Update: After calling apple they had me reinstall lion (didn't do the trick). Now the guy I talked with said I'd need to set up an genius bar appointment to swap it out. What all do I need to take with me? Will the genius bar have me sit through another reinstall and try and fix it or just replace it like tech support said?

Thanks

The tech will likely try to sort things out him/herself first to decide if the problem can be solved. If not they will fetch a replacement. Usually they try to avoid instantly replacing something unless its not important like say apple headphones.
