I couldn't believe what I saw on my way into work this morning - osprey building a nest on top of a crane at a busy bridge construction site.

I invaded their privacy after work:

Turns out they may not be able to use the crane until the fledglings leave.

Haha! I'm glad to see ospreys dictating the construction progress. The construction guys are probably enjoying their days off; I hope no one tries to force the birds out of their nest.

Sweet! Really nice picture.

Thanks. Nothing little or no skill, a credit card and a $1500.00 lens can't do. :p

I like the wry modesty and the picture!

I know this pair, actually. They usually nest farther up the creek right near where I live.

I often see the male out foraging in the morning.

I guess they decided that a 100-foot crane was a more appealing place to live.

Ha, that just great :D

So what's that project that its interrupting? Not anything to do with the Wilson Bridge project? That would seriously cause some problems....

No, it is a local bridge replacement here in Annapolis - they are replacing one bridge and redecking another on the main thorofare in and out of town.

They cleared off the nest (no eggs yet) and the birds have gone elsewhere.

My pic made the front page of the local paper, though! :D

Hope the birds found a safer place to raise their family.
