safari constantly refreshing page on back/forward

Can't remember if the old safari used to do this, but on lion with the swipes to go back a page, safari is starting to refresh the page a lot - so I get a quick preview of the screen I was just on a moment ago, then it blanks out and I have to wait for it to refresh.

anyone else getting this? Surely it shouldn't need to reload a page I've just been on?
