I should hope so too!
I suppose if anything isn't going to work (on tiger) it's microsoft software!

Yeah, I'm kinda surprised this even came up. I just assumed everything would be fine and dandy...
Isn't ignorance bliss! :D

im surprised no one else has picked up this...
microsoft was able to allow for word, excel and powerpoint to be indexed by spotlight (a tiger feature)
BUT will be waiting till tiger is avilable on the 29th to conduct testing of virtual pc 7...
if they could get spotlight to index using (im assuming) a beta of tiger, why couldnt they get virtual pc working using that same beta ?
unless thier just trying to buy themselves time / taking longer to fix virtual pc...

Well, Office '04 doesn't even really use new formats vis-à-vis the versions dating back to at least 2000. At least not for the majority of file types, and the majority of features. That probably made it a lot easier. Apple probably could easily have implemented this without Microsoft's help -- didn't Yahoo and Google?

But they didn't mention Entourage mailboxes.... I'm sure that was just a typo.

Yeah, I was surprised that Microsoft had to wait for the launch of Tiger to get their hands on the final product. I would have thought they would be a fairly high priority developer

Maybe they did get a copy early, it's just that they sent it off to the Longhorn department instead of the Office department... ;)

I need Virtual PC. I will upgrade to Tiger. Will current v. 7 and previous versions work with Tiger?

Even if they don't work straight away (which is still unlikely, they'll probably be fine), Microsoft will probably ensure everything's okay pretty soon after April 29 for at least VPC 6 & 7. They'll probably work fine out of the box anyway though...
Hopefully... ;)

I would assume it's primarily a CYA thing. By its nature VPC is going to hook far deeper into the internals of the OS than Word will, so it will be far more vulnerable to last minute tweaking of the internals than Word.
