is there a way to keep the auto on backlit keyboard only when you've pressed a key (like maybe pressing the 'fn' key since that's easy to access)? i like having the backlit keyboard on, but there are quite a few times when i'm just browsing a site (this forum for example), and i'm just scrolling with the trackpad. i hate how the keyboard light stays on whenever i use the trackpad. is there a way to disconnect the two?

You can use the F5 key to dim the backlight.

There is no way in the default system to do as you ask.
