Anyone have any luck using QT7 Pro license key with Lion? I have one that I paid for many years ago, and while I was able to figure out getting QuickTime 7 installed in Lion, when I put in my registration key it simply says its invalid.

In short, the only thing I use QT7 Pro any longer for is to convert, via passthrough conversion, MKV > M4V. It makes it quick and easy to convert MKV's without going through a full transcode with Handbrake.

Any help on either front would be appreciated.

Ever try MKV tools?

I like it better than Handbrake. It will convert both MKV>MP4, AVI>MP4 or MKV>AVI and will burn SRT subs onto either AVI or MP4. The sub burn is better than Handbrake because on an iPad you get onscreen subs not small ones at the bottom. Also you can control size and position.

There is a donation to have full features but it is not large (about $5.00.)

More technical people can read their web documents but I think it is actually a shell that works about four other programs. This link is where I learned about it. It gives a basic tutorial.

When I upgraded to Snow Leopard in '09, QT Pro was suddenly unlocked as an "Apple Pro Apps User" (I guess because I had Final Cut Express installed). After upgrading to Lion, QT7 reverted back to its non-Pro version. What's odd is that even when I wiped the drive and restored my old Snow Leopard installation, QT Pro didn't return! Oh well... never really did understand why I had it in the first place...
