I really like the new air. I just liked it so much that I forgot the 14-day period thing. Today I just realized a 11" air would better fit my style.

I ordered it from Apple online store, on Day 0 (July 20)
Apple said "no" to the return request, of course.

I'm considering selling it on craigslist, how much is my $1299 base model 13" worth? A new one costs 1.4k (tax included) in my area, can I sell for $1.1k?
I'm willing to accept a max $300 loss to switch to 11" air.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

How much longer has it been? You could try going to an actual store and speaking with someone... maybe they'd be willing to help if it's only a day or two after the 2 week period?

EDIT: I should read better. So it's been like 3 weeks? Yeah, idk, tough cookies. I would never take the $300 loss though. Maybe give to a relative/loved one?

See what you can get on Craigslist, but for a $300 loss, I'd probably keep the 13" if it's simply a matter of preferences. The 13" and 11" are pretty similar, and while the 11" is more portable, the 13" still works on a plane. I had a 13" Air from January 2008 until March of this year.

if you've got money to burn, i guess you can take the loss, but it seems to me that you could somehow manage to make use of a device you were so smitten with that you didn't think of returning it until now. you'd be spending 150 dollars per inch lost :(

Put it on eBay or Craigslist. You should have no problem getting at least 1200-1250 considering it is only two weeks old.

Visit your local Apple store (if possible) and plead with them. $300 loss for a laptop that's under a month old is pretty drastic.

I have a 4GB/128 11" that I would consider to trade. Where are you located?

I returned my Macbook Pro 13" 2011 model three months after purchasing it. I got the full refund. I suggest you try again and hope to talk to a better rep. You should voice specific displeasures with the Air. For example, I said the resolution of the 13" Pro was too low and coupled that with the glass panel hurt my eyes. It was true. I couldn't use my Pro without my eyes feeling extreme strain that lead to headaches. I had recently gotten my glasses lens refitted after an updated eye test too, so it wasn't my glasses. After the manager heard this, they were very willing to take the return. I also said that I'd be considering the 15" Pro or the refreshed 13" Air when it came out (it's what I own now).

Try again. Apple is usually very good about taking returns past the due date from the stories others have told here too. Good luck.

What exactly is so wrong with the 13" for you? It sucks you didnt get what you want but a $300 loss today is probably the same amount of depreciation you'd get if you waited 3 more months so why not keep using the 13" for a while and then re-evaluate your situation later. There's no doubt the 11" is a tempting machine, but you bought the 13" for a reason so maybe you'll find out it really is the one that fit your needs the best.

Honestly if someone offered me $300 and a new 13-inch Macbook Air for my 11-inch Macbook Air, I'd take the deal in a heartbeat.

I love my 11-inch Air, but a 13-inch would do the same stuff for me. I'd still be able to take notes. I'd still be mobile. I'd still be able to fit it in my backpack. I'd be carrying practically the same weight around. Everything would basically be the same.

In the end, it's just the fun-factor of having the 11-inch Air. And that fun wares away over time... I mean it's there... but is it worth $300? Idk... I'd rather have the $300.

That's just my take anyway. I say stick with the 13-inch at least for a year, then switch to an 11-inch if you still feel like it when the 2012 refresh comes around.

If you live in Vancouver I'll trade you! Haha.

...

or just buy the 11" first just to make sure that way if you do like the 11" then sell the 13 and if you actually don't like the 11" then return it in the 14 day window and keep the 13.
