Hi Guys,

Sorry if this is the wrong forum but wasn't sure where to put it so thought home theatre would be good.

Basically i have my complete itunes library stored on a Netgear Readynas duo box. I want to stream this to my PS3 using some sort of media software so i don't need my mac on. I also stream films to my apple tv in another room.

I know this should probably be asked in a ps3 forum but does anyone happen to know if you can install media software on the PS3 to allow a more user friendly interface where it would pick up the album art etc from my NAS box.

Thanks :)

DLNA would be the solution, I believe. You might check if your NAS supports it.

Depending on the format the files are in, you may not be able to stream them directly from your NAS to the PS3.

I have a NetGear ReadyNAS NV+ and it doesn't support my whole video library. I have not checked my music, but I know it will not work with my ALAC files since the PS3 doesn't support that file type. You will not be able to load a transcoder on the PS3. I think there have been some hacks where Twonky was installed on a NAS (Linux version) and it successfully transcoded all Apple proprietary files to the PS3.

Before I moved to an all Apple solution, I used TVersity with a transcoder to stream all music to my PS3.

I just did not like the interface of the PS3. I think the most unfriendly part was that you could not browse for a new song while listening to the one that was playing.

I now use my Apple TV to stream music until they fix the optical out issue with Lion and the Mac Mini. In both solutions, everything is controlled by my iPad using the Apple Remote app.
