where can i find a cheap 500gb or 1tb hard drive for my macbook pro any recommendations or links are appreciated thanks:)

I believe the 1 TB drives are generally a little thicker than the 500G and may not fit in your MAC.

its a unibody so it will fit a 12.5mm 1tb hard drive

I would max it out and get a 1TB Samsung or WD 9.5mm HD.

These are decent, but read the reviews, also look at this Seagate:
I have 3 and they are really nice drives, quick 7200 RPM, 32 MB Cache, and 500GB with a Solid State 4GB Drive Partition.

It doesn't sound like your need for space is that great.
I think the Seagate Momentus XT 500GB Hybrid HDD will do just fine for you.
