Lion will not go past the spinnig disc at startup...

Tried recovery mode and it says disc is fine... Safe mode holding shift key will not work... Is just start with the apple logo along side with a progress bar then the progress bar dissapears and the disc continues spinning indefenetely... This is on an imac i3 help!!!

Bump... Or does anyone know how can I recover the files from the hard drive?
