How to install Windows 7 to usb drive:
As long as your drive has enough space to install Windows 7, is formatted as Master Boot Record, NTFS, and can be removed from the enclosure to be plugged into the sata port on a computer you are good to go.
Begin by plugging you drive into your computer, making sure it is the only HDD/SSD connected to the computer.
Install windows as normal
Once windows is installed follow this configuration guide http://wiki.ucis.nl/Install_Windows...iguring_Windows_7_to_boot_from_the_USB_device
You are all done.
That guide will also show you how to use a drive you cannot remove from the enclosure. But I didn't try that one so I can't say it works.
If while booting you recieve a bluescreen after windows boot logo is gone try using this reg file
Also, unless you want to run that reg file every boot, go in and manually change all the modified registry entries to disallow system from write access.
