View Full Version : Schematics to refurbish Macbook battery A1185

After searching high and low on the internet for the A1185 battery schematics, the one which powers non-unibody Macbooks , I would really really appreciate any help I could get! I am trying to install some new cells in my old batteries, to give them a new lease of life. While I managed to find compatible cells, I do not know exactly how they are wired to the batterie's circuit board (the one with charge LEDs). Again, any help would be immensely welcome! I'm sure many Macbook users would benefit on how to give a new lease of life to their batteries cheaply.

It's not that easy you just can't swap the cells. The chip must be reprogrammed and if you remove any cell and the chip loses power, without a proper programmer your battery is toast.

Buy a new battery. The few dollars you might save isn't worth the risk of damaging your Mac with a home-repaired battery.

Have to second the new battery idea. 3rd party batteries are less than $50 on amazon, and seem to work well. Can't imagine effort + dollar cost of refurbing a battery, not to mention risk, are worth less than $50...

3rd party batteries aren't really reliable either. If you read the reviews on most of them they crap out after a very short time. The best solution is to just buy a new battery.. from apple (even though they are expensive)
