Man I'm really getting nervous, I ordered Tiger on April 13 and my order still says
preparing shipment (2 Educational copies).

the only thing keeping me from getting to nervous is that it says right on their site that
we will get it delivered on the 29th (read the first 2 questions on the page below)

also the fact that most of us the purchased it early did so because of the site advertisements that we would get delivery on the 29th.

It would be a really bad move on Apple's part I think, to not make sure they ship Tiger in time to be delivered on the 29th. They would have a lot of hassle and lose some money on returns and such, not to mention the bad PR/publicity. (The money loss & hassle I'm referring to would be from people like me that would just go to the store and buy a copy on the 29th and refuse shipment of the late copies when they finally came and get a refund.)

Anyhow I think they'll make it happen (hmmm I hope)
congrats to those who have tiger in their paws already, or that atleast have a tracking number that they can obsessivly check every 20 minutes :-)

MarkI was having the same problems, so I used a different browser (Internet Explorer) and it worked. Only until I got the reference number instead of the consignment number that Apple gave to Track, was I able to use Safari. Also, since I'm not living in the UK I tracked it going international. :D :D It's now on a plane to Ireland! :D

Last time I ordered software from Apple UK, it only showed up on TNT tracking a couple of hours after delivery. Delivery was the day after shipping. I know of others who have had to wait a day longer than me in the past. I think it depends on how close you are to a major TNT depot. Fingers crossed for Thursday morning.

Ordered April 12th --> Notified by Apple of shipping at 16:30 PDT today.

I've been reloading FedEx with the tracking number for the past hour or so and it's just turned up – in Ontario. Seems that normally FedEx takes a whole day to move parcels onto a plane to Honolulu, but now I can watch!

Something to keep those of you how are still "processing" happy, FedEx say it was with them at 09:22, so Apple is being a bit SLOOOOOWWWW to update.

I hope it does get here on Friday, cos I'm going to Maui monday :cool:

Just called up up my local TNT to find the expected delivery time (so someone can be in to sign) but neither the 'tracking number' on the invoice or the 'delivery reference number' on the despatch email are TNT consignment numbers so they cannot find it. :(

Some usefull info for EUROPEAN:

1) The local TNT site don't track the order. Yuo have to go to the US www.tnt.com to see it.

2) You have to use the e-mail tracking number and not the one in the order status page at apple store.

3) If you havn't received the mail but you have the traking number on the apple store, click this one, this will get you to the Shipment status page, look at the first number in the "Tracking Number" box and use it for traking on TNT.

4) Be sure to select "references" in the tracking option on the TNT site.

Hope this can help someone.

You should recheck the Apple Order status page, there should be a second ref nbr (tracking number) beginning with format 100xxxxx or so. I also recvd an 802xxx reference format from Apple which could not be traced.

I've finally found out why my tracking number isn't found on the TNT website. The tracking number Apple has given me is 11 digits, however, Apple has just told me I should only use the first 9 digits of the number and put this into the consignment field on the tracking webpage..

It seems a bit weird why they would have an 11 digit tracking number when you should only use 9 digits but anyway...

I've just checked TNT and my package is in Nuneaton.

Hope this helps if you also can't find your package on the TNT website.

The new mail interface is great!

Applications start faster.

No special performance increase or slowdown to report. Just like Panther.

The first start-up can be very-very long... so don't panic after installation.

I still can't track my delivery. But thanks to everyone who has tried to help...

I put in my tracking number from the Apple website. This number is in the format 8410xxxxxxx. I've tried using this number as both the consignment number and the reference number on the TNT website and both times it says it cannot be found. I've tried both the tnt.com and tnt.co.uk websites.

Someone suggested that it may be the browser that I'm using - but I've now tried IE, Firefox, Safari, Opera so I don't think it is the browser.

I guess I just need to wait.

Interestingly I went to http://www.tnt.com/country/en_gb.html and put my consignment number into the form there and it worked. Though it cropped the last three digits off the Apple quoted number.

Last time I ever pre-order anything from Apple.I'm in the same boat. I called Apple a 3rd time today and they said it may go out on Overnight shipping and that to the best of their knowledge, it will still be arriving tomorrow. I don't believe them for a second but I hope they're telling the truth. If it doesn't arrive tomorrow I won't be pre-ordering again either.

I recieved it at 12:05 and was running it at 12:40pm. When you install, you should choose custom, and not install all the languages and all the printer drivers, it saves a couple gigs. Dashboard is oh so sweet. :p

Actually I really do. But the thing that saddens me is that: I was showing Tiger off to some of the other guys in my dorms, and they were blown away, especially by Dashboard and of course Spotlight; but one of the guys kept on making excuses and saying "well I can't wait till Microsoft copies that," and I told him, why doesn't he just switch to macs, but he kept on making baseless arguments, such as: "I won't be able to download "stuff"."

Really sad, its like they are hooked into a machine and are in denial about it. :( :( :(

Well TNT have let me down once again. Apple shipped yesterday on 'Intl Overnite' service, yet when I phoned to check the delivery today, apparently it's still in their European hub. Apparently if I lived in Mainland UK I *would* have got it today, but because Northern Ireland is on the other side of the globe, it'll be Tuesday (after the Bank Holiday) before I'll get it.

I don't know who to be angry at most - Apple for releasing a major product on a Friday before a bank holiday weekend (hence meaning a minimum 4 day wait before the next possible delivery day), or TNT for operating a so-called INTERNATIONAL OVERNITE service, which doesn't seem to be able to ship a package to a UK country for delivery on the next working day like it claims on the tracking information.

I'm absolutely fuming... I spent the guts of yesterday evening backing up all my information and getting the system ready for Tiger.

I called Apple a few minutes ago, because my Status went to shipped some time last night with a Delivery Date of 5/2.

I asked what was going to happen because on the 12th when I pre-ordered it said GUARANTEED by 5/29.

The rep. said an email would be going out and some sort of compensation will occur.

It's not a big deal for me to wait over the weekend to get 10.4. I just think it's really stupid that several people got tiger early because of some sort of mistake, but somehow Apple wasn't able to process my order in the 15 days they had to do it. (FedEx 2 day delivery on the 27th should have been fine)

It's like the kid who procrastinates his class project until the night before it's due.

You'll have to let us know if you get any compensation for complaining. If it's any good I might call up Apple myself.

The (not) funny thing is that UPS, which usually delivers in the late afternoon, has already been here to deliver a school book for me. Imagine my disappointment when I heard the doorbell ring (around the time that FedEx should be here), I run to the door, open it up, pick up the box that is exactly the same size as the box that Panther was delivered in, and I open it... :mad:

After watching my order sit at the "Preparing Shipment" status for 5 days, I was notified that my order shipped out today (with an estimated arrival of May 2 by 4:30pm EST). Interestingly enough when I called (800) 676-2775 (Apple) yesterday and asked them when my copy of Tiger would arrive they assured me that it would be at my door today.

I called the aforementioned number this morning and expressed my dismay at the fact that I was guaranteed shipment on the 29th when I placed my order at 10:12 AM PST on 4/12. I was informed that all those that experienced this "unavoidable, unintended delay" would be getting a $15 credit back on the cards they used to order Tiger.

So, to all that pre-ordered and did not receive Tiger - CALL APPLE! I am sure that this credit will not be automatic, but must be requested. They should be made to compensate each and every one of us that did not get what we were indeed promised.

Don't Panic. Mine says the same but just arrived at the local facility and is still scheduled to arrive at 4:30 this afternoon. I hope that is a worst case time cause I want to leave for the Palo Alto store party no later than 3.

Check the part of the tracking report that says "Estimated Delivery" under the ship date upper left corner of the report above the lines about where it is. :) Good luck!

Yeah... thats what I called up to ask and they said the same thing... So I don't know FedEx says monday (called up the customer service department) but the apple rep says today. I got to the Apple store tonight, buy Tiger at full price. Install it tonight and have all my fun. Then, when FedEx finally delivers my Educational copy on Monday, I do not open it and return it as if it were the copy I bought tonight, getting by $129 back.

Possible? Or just more of a hassle than shipping it back?

Uh oh. I think I found a problem... at least I am having one. Got Tiger around 10 this morning, took less than an hour to "Upgrade" install, and now my Cisco VPN client does not seem to work with the new version. Being a telecommuter, I haven't gotten much work done today. :(

Otherwise, Tiger is pretty cool. Spotlight, so far, is my favorite feature. It's really awesome. Also, the widgets are pretty cool, but I don't know how many of them I will actually use. The weather and flight tracker ones are cool, but I actually have WeatherPop on my finder bar that I like better. I wish the widgets were accessable without having to open Dashboard. What woudl be cool is if you held "control" while clicking on the Dashboard icon, if individual widgets were available in the menu... anyway, for a first version of Dashboard, not bad.

Can't wait to start playing with Automator and the new iLife software.

I'm glad I didn't pay full price for it, though... educational discounts rock!

Well if the box isn't sealed with tape or anything then be careful when you open it so you don't rip anything and then take out the DVD install it and when the new one arrives just switch the DVD's and take it back... Easy as PIE

I highly doubt that each retail box is trackable. To do that they would have to put individual SKU's on each box.

I plan on doing the same thing, buying Tiger tonight and returning the copy I get delivered on monday to the retail store.

i just called fedex again. i asked them to do a literal package check to see where EXACTLY my package was. they put me on hold for a few minutes and said they're certain it's still in newark and that it will not be delivered until monday (may 2).

i told them they should be aware that apple is telling everyone that their shipments will arrive today and that people should ignore what fedex is saying. the woman on the phone every so delicately told me to ignore what APPLE says, because apple is not the shipping company. she said they know better than apple when they will ship.

she also said this is apple's fault, because they were counting on fedex delivering 2-day packages EARLY, which is ridiculous.

she said, and i quote, "i promise you this package will not arrive before its scheduled date, which is may 2. no matter what apple tells you."

and, since it's 430PM, i believe her. i'm off to the apple store soho at 5:30 to buy a copy.

Mine shipped about an hour ago apparently. And no tracking number, DHL Worlwide to Canada.

So let me get this straight. Those of us that paid thousands of dollars for new computer equipment and $12 to pay to ship something that probably only costs a couple of dollars have to wait longer than those who only spent $129? well, i waited in line for about 20 minutes at the apple store in Somerset Mall in Troy, Michigan. I got the Family pack of tiger right away.

They gave me a scratch off card and i won 10% off a purchace.

Just got off the phone with a very helpful and friendly rep at Apple. Due to "some issues between FedEx and Apple" there were "just some delays" that cause some "10-15%" of Tiger orders to be delayed. As a consolation, they were offering free copies of either iLife or iWork (your choice) with free overnight shipping.

I must say, after paying nearly half the retail price for the EDU version, I am almost satisfied to recieve Tiger three days late if it means getting a free copy of iLife out of the deal.

Just got off the phone with a very helpful and friendly rep at Apple. Due to "some issues between FedEx and Apple" there were "just some delays" that cause some "10-15%" of Tiger orders to be delayed. As a consolation, they were offering free copies of either iLife or iWork (your choice) with free overnight shipping.

Yeah. It is awful Apple didn't deliver some of these orders, but I'm really glad they are coming through with compensation.
