I have put 2gb 3gb 4gb 5gb 6gb 8gb in my 2011 server in every case the ram for the 3000 graphics card increases. with 8gb ram a pair of 4gb sticks I am up to 512mb ram for the graphics. When does the increase stop for the graphics? if it continues up to 16gb it would have 1gb for the graphics. Does anyone know if that is true or does it peak at 512mb.

I can't answer your question, but I can tell you that I am seriously considering an upgrade from 8 GB to 12 GB for my 2011 Mini Server. Even after I convert my 3D data to binary form, the files are still over 8 GB in size, therefore I can watch my rendering programs create temporary files because the 8 GB RAM is maxed out.

If I do make the purchase, I will let you know what happens to the graphics card.

It may increase the graphics memory, but I can't imagine the HD3000 would be able to make good use out of anything more than 512MB, if that.

you may be right about that. I have not seen many 8gb ram / 512mb scores for the server. I would be funny if the server with 16gb ram /1024mb ddr3 ram to the intel 3000 is better graphically then the discrete gpu with 256mb ddr5 ram. I would think it may be better in a large videa data graphics situation but not a fast video data situation ie some games. well it is all a guess since no one has shown a 16gb mini with its ram.
