I love the Family Guy.

Is it legal to download these programs though? I know they play on free-to-air channels (well here in Australia they do) but isn't it ripping off the TV networks or something? It just doesn't quite seem right. Don't get me wrong, I'm not being all judgemental, I'm just wondering because I've got a pretty anti-illegal stance I take on my iBook and I don't wanna break it.

i would say "of course it is illegal since they end up putting it on DVD for sale, so yes obviously it is illegal"

I have been out of the loop for a while. How many new episodes are they planning on making before Fox in thier infinite wisdom cancels them again? Sheesh if they get keep it in a good time slot for longer than a couple weeks, the ratings might go up. Anxiously awaiting some good laughs!

I actually think Fox is now going to use the "Its Better to Burn Out Than To Fade Away" opposite the way it did. It cancelled family guy at its highest point - it was JUST beginning to get popular. Now, four years later, it is still critiqued as the best show... and so they are going to bring it back but the way they did the simpsons so that after like three seasons it wont be funny anymore...

I heard they picked up 22 more episodes though!

Ahh, you like the episode "Peter Peter, Caviar Eater" and "Lets Go To The Hop"...

my favorite episode of all time: "To Love and Die in Dixie," where the Griffins move down south because they are being chased by a criminal.

Meg: "You know, that criminal is chasing MY brother"
6 year old girl: "Mah Dawtur wuld absolutly Luve you!"

It seemed like it was writte nabout a year ago ... I mean didin't South Park already make fun of Mel Gibson a bunch ... not that this was the same at all but come on ... that being said certain dynamics were great (stewie and brian), in the introduction was great and I'm excited to see more!

If you saw it ... or what to know what the opening joke is ... which is not going to spoil the whole epsidoe then read the white text.

Peter: Everybody I've got bad news ...
-Lois: Oh no Peter! how could they do that
Peter: Well unfortunately Lois there's just no more room on the schedule. We've just got to accept the fact that Fox has to make room for terrific shows like Dark Angel, Titus, Undeclared, Action, That 80's Show, Wonderfalls, Fastlane, Andy Richter Controls the Universe, Skin, Girl's Club, Cracking Up, The Pitts, Firefly, Get Real, Freaky Links, Wanda at Large, Costello, The Lone Gunman, A Minute with Stan Hooper, Normal Ohio, Pasadena, Harsh Realm, Keen Eddy, The Street, American Embassy, Cedric the Entertainer, The Tick, Louie, and Greg the Bunny.
-Lois: Is there no hope?
Peter: Well I suppose if all of those shows go down the tubes we might have a shot ...

yep! Looks like they may have cleaned up the animation on it a bit but it's the same title/intro.

Actually the animation is suberb even compared to the later season 3 episodes. Looks like they've started working in some subtle 3d stuff like futurama.

I think that pretty much sums up my entire feelings for this return of The Family Guy - I preferred everything the way it was - the show was perfect - Fox would be wise to change as little of it as possible! I guess we'll see, I'm hoping it will be just as good as it was...

That's reassuring. I'm not sure about other FG fans, but I've made sure not to set my expectations too high - otherwise you'll always end up being disappointed. Just watched it, pretty funny. I will be watching the premiere on Fox as well, so I don't feel bad about d/ling it first. Especially since I have the DVDs (though technically they were gifts) and watch it on Adult Swim once in awhile. And for the record, Peter, Brian, Stewie, and Quagmire (as well as some others) are voiced by series creator Seth MacFarlane. So I'm sure they're the same voices. Maybe just done a little differently. It happens. Look at the early seasons of Will and Grace, Karen sounded much different.

- "Man that is one ugly 8th grader" (Its the old man who is into younger boys ... sounds like a gay joke!) "You don't want to hurt yourself dancing make sure you stretch out your creamy hamstrings"
- "I know how to deal with children, unlike Mr. Giapetto" "Are you sure you took it because I'd believe if you said you didn't take it" with Pinocchio's noise pointing towards his butt
"Asian reporter Trisha Takinawa - "I'm standing outside the park barringston hotel because they don't let asians inside"
"I am so clever" -- "there is no just reason to go into iraq" "But what were all forgetting is that anyone who doesn't want to goto war is gay .."
"In local news, ... we now to goto Ollie Williams for the punishment forecast" "HE GUNNA GET IT"

I'm gonan guess thats most of them ... yeah they aren't maybe as extreme as "Oh I've got to tell bonnie I'm sleeping with a black man" or other explicitly overt things like that but they're there and give them time.

From the sounds of it that opening scene really gets the series off to a good (second) start in true Family Guy style. Fox is nice enough to bring back the show, so what does Seth do first chance he gets - insults Fox.

American Dad did seem better tonight. Much better than the Super Bowl episode. I liked the Simpsons second episode better than the first but the Raymond plugs at the end was priceless. Bart trying to skateboard the opening fat was hilarious.

edit considering it was the 350th episode I expected more like the 351 humor.

The new episode was well worth the wait. The part where they slammed Fox at the beginning was priceless.

Chris sounded different. VERY Different. I THINK its Seth Green.

Meg, Peter, Lois, Stewie sound the same.

Brian sounds more grown up.

Brian is seth macfarlane ... theres no substitute there ... as for Chris it was stilll Seth Green but its very possible he neeeded to break in or forgot the voice ... remember Nadia in American Pie 2 ... she totally forgot the accent.

Yeah I thought the Episode of American Dad was ALOT better than the super bowl one. When I saw the Pilot I was like "meh, I'll give it a chance, but it's nothing special" but I think it's growing on me now.

Well the superbowl one was an earlier version also. It was less quality, probably the one they pitched to Fox to get the show and edited.

This one was amazing though, I love American Dad now.

"The terror alert level is blue now. Like his amazing eyes" something like that lol

That was great!! How many shows did he list? He must have gone on for like, 30 seconds.

My favorite was the movie trailer for "Passion of the Christ 2."

Yeah, I like how the first thing they do now that they're back on the air is slam Fox - brilliant, I loved it. And yeah, the trailer was pretty hilarious as well.

I don't know what everyone means with all the voices seeming different - they all sounded the same to me...

I think Family Guy was really funny, I greatly enjoyed it. I agree, it wasn't earth shattering but it was definitely on par with what I'd hoped for.

American Dad, though. My god, that was funny. Funnier because you could tell they got it on the air because it of family guy.

I know it's not actually censorable, but I am still surprised they managed to get "C U N ext T uesday" on the air...(if you didn't get the reference on the show, look at the underlined letters.)

That was possibly the funniest moment ever. Only because my roommate and I were sitting there shocked that they'd said it, and our other roommate took an extra second to get it, and we watched the recognition sloooooowly dawn across her face.....

I think Fox will let Family Guy push the limits as far as possible because they have nothing to lose, The show was already canceled once so they are gonna ride the wave as long as possible and not hold back. Fox also needs a hit so bringing back Family Guy is a last resort to get people to watch and the fan base has grown more since the show was canceled. They need a quick hit so they said give us another show so American Dad was approved.

Hey, that's fine by me. I actually emailed fox when family guy was cancelled, and asked why. They gave me some political answer, which didn't answer the question at all. All i wanted was for family guy to return. And it'll be even better if they don't have any hold backs, like most tv shows.

At least you got a response. NBC wasn't so forthcoming when I asked about Boomtown.

In case anyone wants it for any reason, here's the transcript of the opening teaser from this episode:

Peter: Everybody, I got bad news. We've been canceled.
Lois: Oh, no! Peter, how could they do that?
Peter: Well, unfortunately, Lois, there's just no more room on the schedule. We've just got to accept the fact that Fox has to make room for terrific shows, like Dark Angel, Titus, Undeclared, Action, That '80s Show, Wonder Falls, Fastlane, Andy Richter Controls the Universe, Skin, girls club, Cracking Up, The Pitts, Firefly, Get Real, FreakyLinks, Wanda at Large, Costello, The Lone Gunmen, A Minute with Stan Hooper, Normal, Ohio, Pasadena, Harsh Realm, Keen Eddie, The Street, American Embassy, Cedric the Entertainer, The Tick, Louie, and Greg the Bunny.
Lois: Is there no hope?
Peter: Well, I suppose if all those shows go down the tubes, we might have a shot.

I love the timing with that gag too, it took Peter 30 full seconds
to recite that list.
