Hello,

I upgraded my PM G4 AGPs firmware a while ago. Every time I started it in OS 9 the successful update notification popped up again. I thought it was the empty battery, so I did let it.

Now, I replaced the battery, the system clock now stays, but the notification keeps on popping up.

What to do?

I assume you updated to 4.2.8 then? Verify you have that version now. Thats the most current firmware and is needed on all G4's from the Sawtooth to the Quicksilver for any OS.

yes, but the notification that everything went right pops up every time I start up in OS 9, as if apple thinks I am dumb and have to be remembered a 100 times :)

Sounds like a PRAM zap is in order. Something in the OS is stuck and not seeing the firmware.

So you did indeed confirm it was 4.2.8?

If the PRAM zap did nothing then all I can think is reinstall the OS if it bothers you that much. Something is making it not be able to see the new firmware. Also, for zapping the PRAM you need to let it bong 3 times to get it to work.

I did go through the exact way it is explained at the apple support site, but Iguess I will reinstall OS 9.0.4 run all the updates to get to 9.2.2 and then reinstall the firmware to be sure, that I have let it bong 3 times. Thanks! I will come back, when I have something accomplished
