Looking at a new mini. Unsure about which way to go. Dual core 2.7ghz with Radeon or the Quad core 2.0ghz server. An upgrade to 8gb of ram for either is in order. Anyone have any experience or thoughts about this. Which will x-plane run best on? I like the idea of messing around with the server and integrating a home theater pc thing. Thanks.

X-plane will work much better on the Radeon, though I'd wait on actual framerate reports to see if it actually performs well enough to be worth it for you.

seeing as x-plane (and most games in general) relies heavily on openGL, you would want the discrete amd gpu. the 6630m's openGL performance is 2x faster than the hd3000.

you don't need the mini server for basic home server needs, like file sharing, remote management, screen sharing, etc. standard lion can do all that. lion server (which comes with the mini server) can do all that plus a lot of enterprise/corporate server stuff that you probably would never need or use in a home environment.
