She goes to sleep just fine when I tell her to, but won't pass out on her own. I have Inklet, BetterTouchTool and DropBox running (maybe iTunes too), but nothing that should be sucking regular bandwidth (like Mail).

The Console doesn't say anything particularly odd, except for this Time Machine thing:

8/25/11 1:40:36.285 AM mds: (Error) Volume: Could not find requested backup type:2 for volume

At the end, though it tells me "Backup completed successfully", so I don't think that's it. Any ideas? Maybe just a little bug?

What are your current power settings? ("pmset -g" in Terminal)

I should mention as well that I've zapped the PRAM and reset the SMU. I also tried quitting DropBox and it still didn't sleep.

Maybe it's scared of the dark. JK JK

If you look at this thread (here (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1213684&page=5)), then you can see that you're not alone with the sleep problem. All I can suggest is that you report it to Apple (here (http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html)).

But, spotlight may be part of your problem - is it still indexing files?

As near as I can tell, Spotlight is fully indexed and happy. Besides, I left it on overnight last night to see if it would sleep and didn'tif Spotlight needs more time than that, I've got other problems. ;)

I guess this is kind of common at the moment. Must be a little bug. I reported it... do the same, maybe we'll get a fix eventually. :P

My 2008 iMac has had trouble for quite a while... you can download an app called PleaseSleep that'll put it to sleep no mater what.
