Well, I jost got up a half-hour ago to get ready for the Big Sur Marathon (1:30 a.m.). I have to be at the bus pickup point at 3:30 for the 26-mile ride out Highway one to the start.
Not whoring for attention, but some positive thoughts would be great today. My knee is giving me fits, and lets say the eel sushi I ate two days ago has played havoc with my lower intestinal tract. NOT good for the morning of a marathon. Hopefully the twenty Immodium I took will help. :p
Today's my tenth marathon, and the first one I'm wicked scared I won't finish because of injuries and my stomach. Hopefully it will all sort itself out before the 7 start.
Thanks in advance. *worried* :(

Best of luck. Pace yourself and don't do a 'Paula'. :D

Best of luck, Gary.
Whenever you feel rough, look at the Pacific and imagine a Jolly Roger filled with Macrumors pirates sailing alongside you cheering you on! :)
We'll be thinking of you!

Next time you eat that, drink some Hot tea, It works for me, and helps the digestive juices do their work ;)
Have fun!!

I survived. Barely.
My worst time yet 5:20, but considering I was puking and had really severe lower GI problems, I'm just glad I finished. :D
I actually saw the MacRumors Pirate Ship a few times....delirious.
A nice hot shower and a couple of Vicodins later, I'm much better.
Thanks for your thoughts. :)

Yeah, I didn't listen to that little voice in the badk of my head when I ordered it. BAD idea.
Thanks again for putting up with my attention whoring, but the support really helped as my partner had to stay home for this one.

Congrats iGary
We were roadside "support" for our friend's first marathon last fall, the Royal Victoria. An amazing experience for him and for us.
Pamper yourself, you put yourself to the test and did it!
Cheers

Congrats Gary! Glad you achieved it despite the problems... you may never be able to eat eel sushi again. :p
You did cross my mind a few times today wondering how you were getting along.

Out of the ten I have done, it was the first one I actually considered throwing in the hat and quitting. I felt that bad, but after I stopped heaving things were a little better.
Luckily, I'm a stubborn bastard. :p
Again, thanks you all. It really helped knowing a few of you had me in your thoughts. :D
I'm going to order a huge pizza and watch HBO. Unfortunately a full day of air travel tomorrow and back to real life on Tuesday.
Hopefully Tiger will be waiting for me at the office.
Oh, and the shuffle performed flawlessly. Had it on since 1:30 this morning and it lasted through till 2:00.

Congrats on your finish. This (http://deathride.com/) awaits me in July. I'll have to remember not to eat sushi that week, but it'll be hard 'cause I'll be in L.A. and there's two sushi bars for every Starbucks.

Same with Monterey/Carmel. Every time I come here I just have to have some sushi. Stuff messed me up but good.
Good luck on your adventure!

Well done!
You now owe yourself a long hot bath, a nice big drink & some R&R. :)
I've got so much respect for people that can motivate themselves to run marathons -- this from a person who will barely run for anything.
