Hi All!

I was hoping someone could help me. I am trying to connect my macbook to the internet using wifi.
I am using a DLink router and I have read that mac's in general have connection problems with this particular brand.

The funny thing is that I have one macbook (version 10.6.8) that connects without issue to the internet.

The other other macbook (version 10.4.11) which just has been formatted is unable to connect to the network.

Going into the network settings the IP address starts with 169.xxx.xxx.xx. Based on my research this should show 192.xxx.xxx.xx. I have done everything from resetting my router, modem, computer.

I think its funny that one macbook connects to the internet and the other one doesnt.

Please help!

This is just a guess... But it could be because the Mac OS X software on the 2nd computer is too old.

What frequency are you using? 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz? B/G or N?

The first Macbook 1.1 doesn't support N 2.4 or 5 GHz, only 2.4 GHz B/G
