How do I best preserve my iPhones?

I want to keep all my iPhones as collectors' items of the future (long after I'm gone). Are there any things I need to do, now, to prevent damage to the phones?

I'm most concerned about the batteries inside of them leaking.
 
Remove the batteries. You'll need special tools to do so. A good resource for how to do it would be iFixIt.com.

I'd also recommend some kind of desiccant when packing the phones for storage.

Of course, keeping the original boxes, packaging and accessories is essential.
