Her name, in case you were wondering, is Sabine Ehrenfeld. (Now you know what to Google on.)

And I think she had her peak hotness in the original Overstock.com promo... she's not as hot in some of the more recent commercials.

You mean she's not Diane Lane? I could have sworn she was Diane Lane.

I to think she is attractive. I like her style in the commercial where she "hot" in a reserved sorta way, then she lets her hair down, then she's a little more "loose" and "hot". I like the commercial to, IMO. Has that clean, sophistication look to it, and oh yeah, a pretty girl.

And I like how she say's: "99% of the time." in the commercial.

;)

I think shes kinda good looking, but... isnt she a bit old to be trying to act hot like that? In a few shots you can see the wrinkles around her eyes and mouth. It strikes me as humorous when old women try to act hot, as apposed to actually being hot.

(Love that German-inflected accent, too... first time I heard her, she reminded me of Connie Nielsen.)

Here's more about Sabine (http://slate.msn.com/id/2114128/).

DThere's a link to the commercial in clayj's link.

Edit: Some more interesting tidbits for the fans:

In addition to German and English, Sabine speaks French and Italian. She is proficient in basic tactical pistol skills, because she thought it would be a fun thing to learn. She also has a private pilot's license and 350 hours in the air. After reading the Richard Bach book Biplane, she was inspired to fly solo—in an old-style, aerobatic tailwheel plane—from California to Montana. With camping gear in the back so she could land along the route to sleep and refuel. I am not making this up.

I think she is quite hot. But then again, not being a teenager she seems perfect to me...

Other than the fact that she is already married*.

* Note that I'm already married too so it isn't that big a loss. ;)

She looks good for 40 - and it may be the demographic they're trying to appeal to, who knows.

She looks good for 40 - and it may be the demographic they're trying to appeal to, who knows. That's EXACTLY the case... apparently, Overstock.com's most frequent customers are women in their late 30s. They went with Sabine (mmmmmm) because she appeals to those women (since she's basically one of them), but also because women generally don't consider her threatening. Also, as you've no doubt noticed, men like her, too. :)

Well I must be getting more mature or something (maybe just old :( ) because I reckon she's actually pretty hot, even if I can't stand her accent.

Agreed. But my point is that shes abviously trying really hard to be all hot and sexy. Wouldnt it be better if she didnt try so hard, and she actually was hot and sexy? And if they are trying to appeal to other women in there 30s, why do they insinuate that shes buck naked in the one shot (unless, as I have suspected for some time now, women in there 30s like to get naked a lot...)? And one of the general rules of advertising is, "dont show people as they are, show them as they want to be." I'd say either get a gorgeous 30-something or maybe a mid to late 20-something to play the part. Maybe thats just me though.

Anywho... Thats a long post to basically just say, "no. she creeps me out. and I can do without that god aweful accent."

She looks good for her age; I found the commercial slightly creepy myself, but I can't put my finger on why... and yes, the iBook was first thing I noticed.

Actually, I would think that it is "dont show people as they are, show them as they could be if they used your product."

Showing a twenty-something to a bunch of thirty-somethings and forty-somethings is going to make them tune out the ad as being for little kids.

Contrary to many twenty-something's beliefs, there is actually plenty of life left to live after 30 (assuming you haven't damaged your self to badly before then).

Seeing teenagers and people in their early twenties isn't that big a draw to those of us over 30. That actually falls into the range of how old some of our (collective our, not personal) kids are right now. Which, in turn, would undercut the sexuality aspect of the ad.

The ad is not aimed at little kids (people under 25) it is aimed at adults (big kids over 30). And as a member of that demographic group I can attest to the fact that it is a success at what it is trying to do...

Well, other than the fact that I don't use Overstock.com for anything. But I think that actual product placement in the ad was aimed mainly at women and not men.

Now that I'm in my mid-30's, I've noticed there are a lot more hot 40 year olds than there were 15 years ago ;)

I always prefer women in their early 30's. If she has grown beautiful by that time, she'll remain beautiful throughout the rest of her life. Unlike some early bloomers who turn uglier later in life, aka Britney Spears.

You know... those commercials have SO many perverse undertones:

The big "O" is a term for orgasm (am I allowed to say that here?)
Then the half naked girl...

I was going to post the same thing.Actually, the "half-naked" (bare shoulders) shot of Sabine is my least favorite. In the original promo, she's got that whole Elizabeth Olivet (Carolyn McCormick from Law & Order) thing going on... I liked that promo a lot. The new one's OK, but only in certain shots.

"Shes all I want and I've waited for so long, I'm in love with Stacy's mom."

Best 'older' woman is from the Fountains of Wayne music video for "Stacy's Mom"....Rachel Hunter is a hot hot HOT 30-something, or however old she is.

Wow... it's been a while since 30 qualified as "older woman" for me. Ah, memories.

Well 'older' was intentionally placed between quotes because I was trying to figure out how to word it. It is 30-something is older to me, not OLD old, but older because I am not there yet.

Either way, regardless of how you classify her age as a function of your own, she still remains quite good looking in her age, whatever that may be :D
