My order status at the apple store just changed from "Processing Order" to "Preparing Shipment". Admittedly not shipped, but one step closer!

Preparing Shipment on edu price. Sometimes however I have found with Apple is that it will ship 12-24 hours before you even get the shipment notice and the store shows the item as shipped with a tracking number. My guess is that many will actually be shipped today and tomorrow to make it on or before the 28th.

I wonder what Apple's system is, and if it's anything more sophisticated than organized chaos (that is, if they're processing ship dates based on the likelihood that people will get it in time with lower shipping cost options). I wonder what the total Apple spend on premium freight will be for the Tiger pre-order.... Then again, I have no idea what the rough number of pre-orders was. Anyone know?

I've been putting off ordering Tiger since its release date was announced because I'd figured that no matter when I do it will get here until the 29th. But hearing how people had been already recieving Tiger, I plopped down my credit card on Friday night, and to my surprise this morning the status was changed to Preparing Shipment was bumped to 2 Day Shipping. So I guess I was one of the lucky ones and might just get it before it official release. I just find it weird that Apple is actually allowing shipments early when they are touting the big Friday, April 29th 6pm release.

Just for the record, mine has been listed as 'preparing shipment' for at least 27 hours. So apparently that 12-24 hours means about as much as Windows Longhorn when it comes to pre-orders for Tiger. I'm guessing that mine won't ship until late tonight or tomorrow so that the 2-day shipping puts in on target for a Friday delivery.

It had better come by Friday though because I'm moving out of my apartment and my lease is up at the end of the month, and I won't be living there anymore come Monday! :eek:

Worst case scenario, can I call FedEx/DHL/UPS/whoever and get the shipping address changed to my new place (still in the same town)?

But it is true that the US store is more accurate. There are more options, from Preparing shipment to processing shipment. Preparing Shipment and processing Shipment might all be the same as "open" on the european website, cos i have never seen any sort of Preparing shipment on the europe site.. Oh well i prefer the US site...it just makes me more hopeful.. :D :D :D

By the way, on sites like the UK site, "open" is just the older term Apple used for processing order... maybe you noticed the US Order Status page has a newer look?

Does anybody keep getting the message "Did not receive any response from application. It is possible that the application does not exist, or that the requested url is incorrect."? Using Safari... a few refreshes make it work...

I think the store being down is due to the Powerbooks supposedly coming tomorrow.

either you're a real newbie or you just mistyped. PowerBooks are not reported to be updated. In fact, January was the last update.. the end of january. That leaves a whole 3 months since they were updated. In other words, no powerbooks until AT LEAST WWDC in June, and if they do update in June i predict dual core G4's.

What you really meant was PowerMacs I imagine. Which are definitely scheduled to be updated. However the store only goes down when they are actually updating the store, in this case that would be in the morning of the release or after they were announced. They havent' been announced, so this is probably just a simple system upgrade, no new products, no real reason behind it.

The Apple Order Status section of the Online Store is down. So nobody can check the status of their order.

It appears that everyone who ordered from Apple has not had their copy shipped out. I think very late tonight or early tomorrow you'll see a lot of replies in this thread about people saying it has been shipped.

We all need to be patient here...

Well technically, Apple still loses. Apple sells Tiger to MacMall a helluva lot cheaper than they would me. So Apple doesn't get the full profit like they would if I stayed with them.

I am thinking your right considering mine has not shipped yet and it is Wednesday. I would think however, that would cost Apple A LOT of money to air ship everyone's copy of Tiger just to prove a point.

I think that by the end of today we will see alot of order status' changing for many people.. I think that the majority of OS X copies will be shipped tommorrow in the states...i am not so sure about Europe though.

I changed my tiger order from amazon.com to apple 2 days ago and it shipped last night from Harrisburg PA. According to UPS it is on the truck for delivery TODAY. I have my fingers crossed and UPS should be here in the next hour or so.

This is my first time posting; shame is has to be about this particular topic.

Like many of you, I'm somewhat concerned about TIger shipping after pre-ordering from the UK Apple Store online.

Having checked my account via the UK site throughout today (Thursday), my order has shown as "open". Checking via the US site has been a little more informative; "Order being prepared" - with an expected shipping date (not delivery date) of...2nd May!

Having been daft enough to order the £20 off retail copy of .mac, which when I ordered on the day Tiger was announced, was in stock and ready to ship. It now has a 3 day build time on it.

Patience will get the better of me. The question is, without having pre-ordered a copy at an authorised reseller (Manchester Micro Anvika in this case), will I stand much of a chance of getting a copy of Tiger by turning up on-spec ?

Sorry to start with a moan - it is good to hear that others stand a chance of getting their copies on launch day.

Sometime within the past 15 minutes Apple updated the status of my order from Preparing shipment to Shipped. The tracking number was provided.

Apparantly it shipped out around 11AM this morning via Fed-Ex 2-day service, and should be here on the 29th.

I'm very happy with this, and my faith in their shipping department is restored.

If I were Apple I would have released this on a Thursday. Then if, for some reason, it was not delivered on time there would be a chance of our getting it the following day and still having it for the weekend.

mine says it has been shipped....... it was shipped 27/04/2005.......... now here is the interesting thing....... it was shipped with tnt, and there was a tracking number given, so off i pop to the tnt site, and apparantly it was delivered to somewhere in france in febuary and now it is coming over here to belfast and is allocated for delivery, dont know exactly what that means tho!

It clearly said "Shipping on or before the 28th", not "Arriving on or before the 28th". I don't know what made you think you'd get it a day earlier than the rest of us, since Apple's store made it pretty clear that everyone would be getting it the 29th.

I called and apparently Apple has an agreement with FedEx where despite what any of the tracking says -- which will say it has not been delivered until monday -- the package will come tommorow. Both of my orders said preparing shipment for days. Last night I received my email on my Family Pack that showed it had actually been shipped out at 1:30PM and I didn't receive the email and status change until 11:00PM.

My server version email just came at 9:00PM tonight, but said it had been sent out yesterday at 2:00PM.

Apple missed the ship date on Panther -- but it was an up-to-date order, so I could forgive that. This, however, is a full-price family pack.

Is there anything I can do if Apple misses the ship date again, or do I just have to suck it up and get over it?

I really hope that there web status page is just not fully updated. Because as of 11:40 pm on thursday mine still says it is being prepared for shipment... I hope I get it tomorrow like they promised..
