My first Mac ended up having a dual monitor setup right before I got rid of it...
had 15" & 17" Sonys on it...was damned nice having the extra real estate :D
now I wish I had a dual config...would be so nice on my work G4...

Dual LCDs at work...Apple 17" and Dell 15"...

I don't at the moment but I seriously want it and will probably have a 2nd screen by the end of the year.

I am running a 22'' cinema display as my primary and a 21'' CRT studio display as my secondary. Talk about workspace!! I LOVE it!

My old PMac 8100 had three 15" monitors, I am currently using a Ti800 with a 21" Dell Trinitron at work. It is soooo nice. Anyone with a powerbook that does not use two monitors when they are sitting at their desk needs to get with the program.

I have used dual monitors before. Its wonderful.....BUT I have never HAD dual monitors personally...
I want it though. When I can afford it (who knows when that'll be) I wanna get a second monitor (oh my.....2 19"LCD's...yeah..)

I used dual monitors on my old G3 PowerMac at work, great workspace. When I get my new machine in 2003 I'll most likely pick up a pair of the formac 20.1" LCDs - those things are amazing. Love to go with 3 though, maybe as an upgrade later.
www.formac.com
and one nice thing with them - Formac’s quality guarantee: 3 years warranty, 2 or less dead pixels I've never seen that before! :D

19" and 17" (both CRT) - Final Cut Pro's default two monitor setup it pretty cool - puts all your clips on one screen and leaves the main one for editting.
My pee-cee at work is dual-headed too. Dell laptop with a docking station with a vid card in one of it's PCI slots and 2 19" CRTs. Amazingly, Win2K actually works very well that way. (Unlike the crap that Win98 and/or NT 4 does by putting things all of the way across both monitors half the time. )

Dual 21" CRT's at work on the Linux machine. Sometimes it really seems to help the workflow (3200x1200 desktop). Lots of code listings open at once, with room left over for documents about the specs I need to meet and interfaces I work with.
And in addition to that I use Linux's desktop switching ability to get even more space. Weee!

I went from two Apple 17" Studio Monitors (CRT) to a single 23" Cinema HD display.
Although I lost screen real estate, it's more usable, as there isn't that discontinuity across the screens...
Also, the ADC driven display on the Cinema Display is the most gorgeous screen image I have ever laid eyes on. Goodbye, blurry type!
Since I look at my monitor more than anything else in the world (including the inside of my eyelids), I figured I owed it to myself to make it the best possible view :-)

Lucky man, getting a 23" HD Display is the only reason I'd drop my dual 18" displays.

I had to say "Love it, would never go back" but the truth is love it and if I had the money for another LCD I would never go back..... saying that... if I had enough money for another LCD I would rather buy a 22" and if I had even more money than that I would buy a 23".

I have used duals for years but this year when I moved to school I had an extra 17" monitor and I added that to my 23" HD Cinema and 21" sony Trinitron just to see if it would work. It did and I have more space than I know what to do with! Working on anything else seems so cramped. I keep iTunes open on the 17", Adium, iCal, Rendezvous, and Speeddownload open on the 21", and that leaves the 23" strictly for browsing and just working. FCP is sweet with 3 monitors!!!!!!! If you can try 3 monitors do it!

I use dual 17" LCDs. Makes for a very efficient workspace. One 17 is the document window for Quark, Illustrator and Photoshop. The other has the palettes, iTunes and email. I had a 21" and 19" CRTs but I had no desk space so I bailed on them for this setup. I have them in a V setup. Having them directly next to each other didn't feel right. There is probably some ergonomic reason . . .

On my old 7100 I had a second monitor hooked up just for Photoshop pallettes, server stats, etc. It was quite nice.

We are doing a few moves around the office at the moment and, while one of the guys is on holiday, I am moving to his desk. He has a PB and has left his CRT that he hooks up to when he is in the office so I have kind of "borrowed" it.
I am going to be SO upset when he returns to work... I LOVE dual display.
I also love how the desktop pattern is randomised on both screens under 10.2. Don't like the screen saver, though.... I am using Flurry and it is obviously optimised to the CPU not the graphics card because it barely moves on screen.

Two monitors is the standard set-up for FCP. And generally a tv monitor off to the side as well. It's a nice way of working. With monitors getting so inexpensive it's not something to put off...

My MacBook is connected to a 26" Samsung HDTV/monitor. Sometimes I go with both screens, but usually I just stick with the one.
A second screen is handy for shuffling things around, though.

Trying to save for a 24" monitor for use with my 13" MB. Previous setup was x2 15" screens. Not worth buying the adapter to use the same 15" screen with my macbook.

Same. I don't see how any photographer gets any work done on a single monitor station.

On the Mac, it was possible in 1987 with the Mac II. MacWorld's Mac II debut issue covered using 5 monitors on the Mac II. IIRC they couldn't get the 6th one to work (the Mac II had 6 slots).
I've been using a minimum of dual monitors for 15 yrs now full-time, and quad+ monitors for about 6 yrs.

I do 2 displays sme times, as i have a tv LCD screen i use as my main display some days then other days i use an neovo f-419 and then some days i use my mac book 13 screen,
I can live with out 2 screen but video editing with imovie sucks on a 13inch screen, as its harder to see, but its how i work most of the time, Being a student and all

I did for about a week with my old iBook G4...but I realized I wasn't using the extra monitor for anything but iTunes, and it's not big of a hassle to switch to it when I want to change the song, so I stopped.

That is what I used my iBook's built in monitor for. (and email, downloads, Forum Spy:D)

Whenever I want to play Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 on Boot Camp on my Air, I normally hook up my Apple Keyboard, Mighty Mouse, and monitor from my mini up to the Air and play from there. Much easier that way.

Yes, but with Win Vista. And, guess what? The hassles I went thru hooking an external monitor, each morning, in my Dell Laptop, with setting which were never the same, pushed me to switch to the mac.
By the way, since then (about one year ago), I cannot correctly connect my laptop to an external projector without hassle, for instance to show a Power Point presentation.
It's like Vista is punishing me to have switched...
