Mac mini users : what is your overall impression about the
responsiveness of Tiger ?

I am looking for your valuable comments before opening my
wallet next Friday. Even though I can get one PB 12, I am
still not convinced that it is worth it due its hefty price.

So, exceptuating the ripple effect, what other differences
did you get ? Is the fast user switching fancy ? How about
Safari ? Can it load faster than before ?

Thanks for your help,

S.

I'm looking forward to the Dictionary and Thesaurus combo myself actually. Finally, I won't have to launch Word or an online reference-dictionary to do a quick check.

BTW, your background is eye-catching and there I say... sexxy! What is it of?

Hi,

believe it or not the desktop background is a photo of a Suzuki SV 650 motorbike, its a close up on the tank.

To get the dashboard widget to stay like that, click on dashboard, when you select the widget in the dashboard dock just hold f12 while dragging to the desktop.

Sweet! I like the whole Dashboard concept because of the anti-screen clutter, but this offers the best of both worlds, since every once in a while it'll be handy to have a widget readily available.
I can't believe Apple wouldn't advertise this!

I'm an ADC Select member, and we *still* have not been given access to the GM build! We are supposed to get the DVD in the May mailing, that goes out this Friday, but no download thus far. With Panther, we had the GM build about a week ahead of the retail release. I'm disappointed, to say the least.

Nice piccie.

So is the 'Fullmanual.pdf' on the desktop the SV service manual?

I used to have an SV, and the pdf manual is darned useful. Came in handy for replacing the handlebars and untwisting the forks when I (ahem) failed to make a corner :D

Cool bike!

Oh my gosh... I wouldn't recommend going there... they have some pornographic background...

Hmmmm...I didn't see anything NSFW when I went there, although I didn't search through everything. But the link is just for screengrabs.

But....:D Maybe norinradd should submit some photos of his netgear to their gear setup section, and maybe they *can* get the pinup action going! ;) :D

Didn't make the cut. I can't see why seeing as how it would be so easy to implement. Also, earlier builds had mentioned this functionality, but I guess it was subsequently scrapped.

Admittedly I'm more of an Adium user, but in my time spent with the new iChat I saw no option for tabbed browsing. Nor is it mentioned amongst the 200 new features, listed for Tiger. I just went back and looked all throughout the preference settings, and view options, with no mentioning of tabs. If someone else see's it in there then i stand corrected.

I bet they had an internal working build of it, but somebody was like "Save it for 10.5!" I guess you've gotta have something more for the next rev. Until then there's always Adium and admittedly Apple doesn't do the best job at tabbing.

Huh?...obviously your definition of pornography is stricter than mine. I looked through about five pages and all I saw was some mild anime stuff and a picture of a girl's sandy ass on a beach. I've seen that much in adverts over here.

So is it true that you can only have one widget on the desktop at a time when not in "dashboard mode."

So we know now that you can have widgets on the desktop. I can't believe that apple is not talking about this feature because all the threads that i have read that are AGAINST dashboard all talk about not being able to pull the widgets onto the desktop.

Can somebody please talk about this feature in more detail? Can you have more than 1 widget on your desktop?

Over Achiever
Apr 28, 2005, 12:07 PM
It's a bug, once you access the dashboard the widget gets removed from the desktop and gets placed on the dash instead. It works because if you configure the dashboard, and hit F9-F12, the dash disappears, but since you're still dragging the widget, it stays floating above everything else.

That is also why only one widget can be on the desktop at once. You can't drag more than one widget at once. Still, I like the weather art, and that space of my screen is relatively unused, so it works for me. Otherwise hitting one button to access the multitude of widgets isn't a bad thing either ^_~

Is there an easier way to read away messages in iChat now? I hate the mouse over technique because if the away message is too long it will go away before I'm done reading it. Also, dos the auto response work with away messages now...both ways...from ichat to others and to me via ichat.

Thanks!
