has anyone ever done this? I have a mid 2010 MBP 2.53 GHz Intel Core i5, 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 I'm either going to put on eBay, or the recycling program and save up for a 2011 MBP 13inch

You can usually get more money selling it, but of course apple gives you store credit and it's guaranteed to have all of your data wiped. I'd personally recommend selling it.

Would you recommend eBay or craigslist? The recycling program quoted me around 920.00..I saw the model I have going for around 1,200.00 on eBay, and then minus eBay and paypal fees who knows what I'll be left with.

eBay has become very non-seller friendly/pricey to sell on for high-end items. You'll get more cash and less hassle on Craigslist.
If you still decide to sell on eBay - make sure you dot your i's and cross your t's, and state you won't accept returns. Buyers look for any excuse to screw you out of your money.

thanks I forgot but still you don't get anything for it. They will give me $47.50 for my Powerbook. That should cover the gas, traveling to the Apple store. lol
not for nothing; a powerbook is an obsolete computer, so it makes sense they won't give you anything for it...
