Do I really need a new battery?

Hey guys I have a late 2008 unibody alum. macbook which my old charger broke. Today I bought a new 85w charger and plugged it in and now my macbook is saying to replace my battery soon. Is this because of the new charger, or do I really need to replace it?
 
did you replace the charger with a stock charger or did you get an aftermarket one? it might be out of spec.... and that would kill your battery
