In Snow Leopard I moved my favorite apps to the desktop. So my MBA looked a lot like my iPad. Launchpad now will do that too but I have to launch it. Is there a way to keep it always on top like an iPad? Or is there a way to move my favorite apps to the desktop. i tried just moving them but it would not allow it.

You can create a shortcut/alias. In the Applications folder, secondary click an application and select Make Alias then drag the shortcut to the desktop.
