CNN/SI reports (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/football/nfl/04/27/bc.fbo.playerdeath.ap/index.html?cnn=yes) that former Miami Hurricanes (American football) player Stanely Shakespeare was killed when a gust of wind blew him off his boat.
Yes that is sad. :(
But, talk about the irony.

That's more like coincidence than irony. Now if the Miami football team lost a game because hurricane winds blew a last-second field goal attempt wide, then THAT would be irony.

It's slightly more bizarre when you consider he played for the NCAA Miami Hurricanes and the NFL team he played for (as a replacement) were the Buccaneers whose new stadium proudly displays a boat at one end zone with a skull on it.
As for Miami playing in hurricanes, didn't you see that Steelers @ Dolphins game in the early part of last season? Great fun to watch on TV - less fun to be there!
