Who else here thinks the superdrive is overkill for the consumer market? I mean it really is a great option, but its time will come in a year or so, just not now.

If you want to pay for the high end iMac, why not! Most people will not, because of the price tag...but I do agree that the combo drive is much more practical!

i love the super drive. i just hate the imac. too bad you cant get the superdrive in another computer.. oh wait...

SuperDrive = coolest computer on campus!

The SD iMac will rule DVD ripping!

THATS who'll buy it. Well, actually, their parents will buy it for them...lucky b#$^ards.

In all the iDVD demos Jobs is always making DVDs to send to family members or friends. DVD burning is obviously part of Apple's consumer strategy. I predict by MWNY '03 every new mac will have a superdrive.
