Currently my 5th generation iPod Video only plays audio from one channel. Headphones work fine with other audio players, and new head phones used with the iPod also only play one channel, so definitely the iPod itself. Everything about the iPod works fine, playing, syncing, etc. except for only getting audio in one channel (No idea if it is the left or right). Resetting the iPod has no effects.

After som googling, most people seemed to blame the soldering in the plug, so I bought a new plug along with connectors, and installed that, unfortunately to no effect.

So, any suggestions? I'm having a hard time figuring out what it is, since the iPod seems to work otherwise. Would be a pity to have to throw it out, since it still gives me ~12 hours of battery on a full charge even after 6 years of intensive use.. :)

get a cotton bud (cotton swab) spray some windowlene (window cleaner) on the swab or isopropyl alcohol if you have it and push the swab down the headphone hole a couple of times this will totally fix the problem, i need to do this every year or so, lint etc from pockets gets in there.

Thank you for the suggestion, but as noted in my first post, I already tried replacing that to no avail. By plug in the first post, I mean the headphone jack, with connectors.. Like this one (http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=ipod+video+headphone+jack&_sacat=0&_odkw=ipod+headphone+jack&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313).
