Tom & Katie Hit the Red Carpet
The new couple kiss for the cameras as Cruise picks up a lifetime achievement award in Rome
The public canoodling continued for new couple Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes on Friday in Rome – where Cruise arrived to receive a lifetime achievement award.
Cruise and Holmes kissed in front of the cameras at Music Park Auditorium before Cruise was honored at the David di Donatello Awards, the Italian equivalent of the Oscars.
Photographers in Rome first photographed the pair smooching on Wednesday. Since then, the couple have been making the public rounds together, meeting with Italian leaders and sharing meals together, with photogs capturing every move.
Meanwhile, back in the U.S., Holmes's father, attorney Martin Holmes, offered some positive words about the just-revealed relationship.
"I'm happy and excited for Katie," the elder Holmes tells TV's Access Hollywood. "She has a good head on her shoulders, and we must trust her judgment."
Cruise, 42, and Holmes, 26, "have been dating a couple of weeks," a friend of Cruise's told PEOPLE this week.
The romance was confirmed by Cruise's rep after he and Holmes were photographed together, hand in hand, in Rome on Wednesday evening.

Grossed out, I would be giving him a pat on the back. Now for being Tom Cruise I'm sure he has his pick, why Katie, who knows. She is very good looking though, young too.

Yeah, it makes me sick when old guys only go for young girls. No, not just younger girls, but girls who are much younger. Its gross. I don't mind if Tom goes out with younger girls if its always a case of them having a lot in common, but he only seems to pick out young girls. Lots of old famous guys just think: date the young pretty girl, regardless of everything else that's needed for a relationship. He just keeps trading in older wives and girlfriends for younger girls. That's how his mind works. That way his girls stay the same age.
And yes, she can do much better than a guy who shoots blanks.

Hey Abstract, lighten up a bit. ;)
So what if an older man/woman wants a younger partner? As long as they are happy together, good for them!
Life is too short to worry about trivial issues such as this.

I think that after a certain point, its no longer trivial when the age difference is too big.

Relationships not going to work, if she doesn't accept Scientology. I think that was the cause for Cruz's breakup. Didn't Tom try to win her back at the Academy awards?
Anyway, she's taller than I thought she'd be, or Tom's a shorty.

More props to him. If I were 40 something, I'd be like, "hey, how many 19 year old girls wanna go back to my house and party with my disco ball, some liquor, and my iTunes playlist.... I have a rotating bed too." And they'd be like "Oh, Onizuka, you such a sexy hunk of man-love." And I'd be like "hells yeah." And they'd be like "let's have a 12-some." And I'd be like "Alllllright." :D

IMHO, it is up to the couple. What the rest of us think, really doesn't matter.
In this case, you are being discriminatory based on age difference. Discrimination in any form is not good.
But really, when you get down to it, what does it matter if Tom Cruise dates an 80 year old or a 18 year old. It is his life to live.

Most common marital/relationship problems, in no particular order:
- Religion
- Sex
- Money
- Kids
Of course there are other issues, but these are some of the top ones.

Yeah, I would tend to agree about money issues.
Then again, it depends on the type of marriage as well. Additionally, items such as a cross culture marriage/relationship can affect this as well.
Here's one that may surprise you. I've known a couple of folks who purchased their bride to be out of a whore house and seem to have a good marriage many years later.. Well, then again, I guess you could say this was based on money. ;)
Having worked a a supervisor most of my life, I find it refreshing when I see a happy couple. So many marriages out there have problems. Marriage isn't easy! It is something that you must work at. Like an investment if you will. The more you put into it, the more that you get out of it. Anyhow, when someone has a wonderful relationship with their spouse, it really makes my day. ...unfortunately, in today's world, I don't see this much.
So if Tom and his newfound love work out, great for him. Wish them the best.

Ah, I see there's someone here that's in the know. Well, I do remember GTO saying in his fantasy "I'm in my 40's, and she's only 16."
Heh. But, that's not legal in america, so 19 will do jsut fine. 18's cool too.

Yeah, if I remember correctly, Anthony Quinn fathered a child when he was 81. His wife was in her late 20s or early 30s and you know old Zorba the Greek didn't do the frozen seed thing. Also, Tony Curtis is married to somebody almost 1/3 of his age.
Given the "op," if I could date (read: bag) a fraulein 20-25 years older than me (which would actually make her a frau), she would be on the level of lets say, Isabella Rossellini or maybe Ann-Margaret ten years ago, etc.

I have a perverse attraction to Martha Stewart. :oYeah, "perverse" is probably the right word, although I will admit she still looks good for a woman of her age (63).
I wonder how Tommy Boy is coping with the fact that Katie Holmes is saving her virginity for marriage? (Or so she claims. Must've driven Chris Klein crazy... or to drink. ;) )

Actually, it was his mistress who had the baby. At the time, I lived in the apartment above her sister (a pilot) and was friends with her (the sister, not the mistress) and her fiancé. Ol' Zorba's wife was not pleased. Nor was she anywhere near "late 20s or early 30s".

External beauty maybe...which fades with time in most cases.
