Guys can you recommend some good free to play games for the mac ? I was disappointed after installing steam ( very buggy installation ) and teamfortress 2 takes like 7gb more installation. Wished battlefield heroes was supported in the mac

I tried this 3d game for chrome and it works well. Like the whole multiplayer / pvp zombie killing thing except that after playing like 3 hours straight, the air just froze so i had reset the air , first time it happened.

I don't know about free to play games on Macs, but on my 2011 MBA 13'' I download most games from the Mac App Store.

Particularly 2D ones. These are the games that run perfectly fine without heating up:

Angry Birds
Plants Versus Zombies
Dino Run SE
Cave Story+
VVVVVV
Radiant
Evac
The Incident

These are games that run perfectly, but my MBA heats up a little bit (about the same as loading a youtube video):

Machinarium
World of Goo
Bit. Trip Beat (2d gameplay, 3d objects moving in background)
Bit. Trip Runner (see above)

I am staying away from 3D games like Portal and other source games on Steam as I know it'll make my MBA work it ;) But I have a gaming PC anyway so I'd rather steam-gaming on that.

MBA is for casual/light gaming.

bubbles is nice for some time, but not too long.
Oh and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare works quite nice on my 11"i7. but it does need to work for that.

Go to www.appshopper.com

click on "Mac" (upper left)
click on "Top 200" (upper center)
use the pull down menu that says "All Categories" and change it to "Games"
click the button that says "Free"

Bingo. You have a sorted list of the 200 most popular free games.

League of Legends. It requires windows (boot camp) and is 2,4gb (if you're concerned about your storage.)
