Hi all,

Just bought one of the new 21.5" iMacs, arrived yesterday (doing the happy dance!) Anyways, for the last 4 years I have been using a MacBook Pro (mid/late 2007 model).

I'd like to connect the MBP to my iMac via firewire to transfer over some files, etc. I don't have a FW cable so I am trying to figure out exactly what I need. FW 800 I know, but do I need a m/m? f/f?

Sorry if that's a rather dumb question, I just don't want the hassle of ordering something, waiting for it to arrive, and then discover I bought the wrong thing.

TIA...

I don't know if the MBP has FW800 if it doesn't you need a cable like:

http://www.amazon.com/Oyen-Digital-Firewire-1394B-Cable/dp/B0027DPM1U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1316701845&sr=8-1

These are easily found at any computer store, Best Buy, Radio Shack or of course Amazon.

If the MBP has FW800 you need this cable:

http://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-F015-006-Firewire-Hi-speed/dp/B000AAZQJU/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1316701911&sr=1-1

Definitely has FW 800, so it looks like the latter link is it. Thanks much.
