I wouldn't bet on it, but try it... see if it works for you. If they're anything like the 2010 minis, then they are going to be real fickle about an exact match.

They are far far far better with ram then 2010 mac mini's

If you have the ram please try it I THINK IT WILL WORK.

I did 20 plus 2011 mini's with crucial, corsair, pny, patriot, gskill, hynix, samsung 4gb sticks and a few with elpida 8gb sticks corsair 8gb sticks and samsung 8gb sticks.

Also the 2011 have come with 1gb and 2gb hynix and samsung sticks. They have all been good.


The 2010 minis were really choosy with 4 gb ram sticks basically samsung were gold and lots more were hit or miss. I stopped upgrading the 2010 minis because of this.

No 2010 mini ever downclocked ram perfectly for me. I have 2 2010's on hand now and have to wait for more samsung sticks. A pita

Ordered the Samsung 1600MHz PC12800 RAM. It's currently on Backorder. I am trying to fix an issue with video performance under Windows 7 with Live TV. Over in the MBP forums some has successfully up clocked SNB by adding 1600MHz RAM and had performance gains with the integrated Intel HD Graphics. I'm hoping this may be a permanent solution to my problem.

I think it will work of all the ram tests I did the only 1333 ram that would downclock halfway decent to a 2010 mini was samsung. It would pass rember and it worked okay but the mini tended to overheat more with that ram then 1066 samsung ram. so if any thing will work it will be the samsung. These new cpus/mobo's seem to handle ram better the then 2010 mini's did.

BTW if it upgrades the intel graphics that would be cool.

Pretty sure the speed is the true speed the RAM is running, and not what it's branded as. Not sure if a 3rd party utility can test it with any more accuracy. But follow up with us and let us know. I'm really interested in your results.

Bringing back an old topic because I can possibly get some dd3 1600 mhz ram for cheap. But like has been stated the 2011 mac mini is only said to support 1333mhz.

However could we call the last poster confirmation the mac will support the faster ram, apple just doesnt want us to know that?

You might also have the potential issue that not all 1600 MHz ram will play the same way in your 2011 Mini. Some might "behave" nicely and others won't. Only way to know is by giving it a shot and seeing if the Mini will recognize it at 1600 MHz.

Just hopped my 2011 mini (server version with Core i7 - macmini5,3) with Crucial's memory:

Working like a champ and the system acknowledged it at 1600 Mhz. So far it seems to be running fine. I'll try to report back if I notice any flakiness.
