I just bought an iPad2 at Best Buy, and set it up out of the box using iTunes on a Lion-based MBP. As part of the process, it updated from 4.3.3 to 4.3.5 firmware. I let everything complete, and checked the total and available capacities in the "General" > "About" screen:

59.1 capacity, 58.8 available

After messing around with it a bit, I did a "Reset and Erase Everything" from the iPad menu, and re-did the Restore just for good measure, NOT recovering from any backup. This time, the capacities listed after being rebooted were:

58.7 capacity, 58.4 available

Even tried a recovery mode wipe, and it produced the same results. It seems there is no way to get back to the "59.1 capacity". In case you think the firmware upgrade may have done something, it showed the 59.1 number even after the update to 4.3.5, but never after I did the "Reset and Erase Settings".

Has anyone else seen this happen on their iPad?
