Mail Not Responding

I'm having a problem with a brand new MBP which restored data from an old MacBook through Time Machine: Mail is not responding. I already tried to delete the accounts from System Preferences but they keep on coming back on, even though I'm not syncing with MobileMe.
Any help will be mostly appreciated.
