Now that I have my Mac setup and going, I figured I would post my current background. This is a shot that I took Mother's Day while I was playing around with the macro mode of my digital camera.

Command (apple) + Shift + 3

Another way is to use the Grab application that you can find in Utilities in Applications

I use a program called STICKY WINDOWS and I love it! I can have tabs on the sides of my screen and then to activate I just click. Keeps the dock clear and I can move the tabs around. I also dictate what side of the screen (and they can go on the bottom). Wonderful program and worth the cash.

How did you Get this Picture?

In the finder, go to Macintosh HD>System>Library>Screen Savers. In there, you see a listing of all the screensavers on your system. Right click on any of the .slideSaver packages, and go to 'Show Package Contents'. You'll get a new finder window with a folder called Contents. Open that up, and go into the Resources folder where you will see a listing of images -- all the Nature Patterns images used for the screensaver. You can copy/paste these anywhere in your system and then apply as your desktop background.

hey I run dual as well, and always have this question on where to get quality dual backgrounds...

I found deviant art usually has a decent selection of dual's
Dual Backgrounds (http://wallpaper.deviantart.com/dualdisplay/) Just check the "browse dual-display" link. As a sidenote, it seems that in the windows world (where I usually find most of my desktops) you can just download one huge image, and it puts them on their respective screens, unlike OS X where you must designate each monitors picture. My suggestion would (obviously) be that you would need some image editing software to slice the large "extended" picture in half, then seperate them. I typically use photoshop with a fixed aspect ratio selection box...then copy/paste. What kind of images are you looking for, I have a small collection of sliced up photos I could maybe send you

hey I run dual as well, and always have this question on where to get quality dual backgrounds...

Well, this is not standard in Windows either. NVIDIA has drivers that support this feature yes, but standard windows XP for instance does not. I at work have both screens displaying the same picture with absolutely NO possibility to either stretch 1 image or use 2 different ones across my dual-screen desktop.

That's awesome! Where/how did you get that theme?

well to get that theme running on your Mac you'll need ShapeShifter (http://unsanity.com/haxies/shapeshifter) to apply the theme. then you can take a visit to VanillaSoap (http://www.vanillasoap.com/) to get yourself the most kick-ass theme released yet this year. :D

BTW - VS seems to be down now... but as i said the theme i Niqu - search around and you may find a mirror, or if you're just itching to get it just PM me and i can send it over.

you guys wantign the CTU logon screens should take a wander over to one of the Mac GUI forums. someone there should be able to help you out. i'd recommend MacNN (forums.macnn.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=94).

also there's tutorials out there on how to make your own login screen for OS X. it's not that hard if i remember.... if i had the spare time i'd do it myself. :) check ResExcellence and the forums for some help if you want to do it yourself.

Automator does not yet have an action to allow you to set a file size parameter, but I am sure this will come.

Man, I need tiger....like yesterday :(
You guys and all your fancy functions.

I'm really impressed with Tiger since my update CD arrived on Monday. Everything works as advertised.

Spotlight is absolutely perfect: fast and picks up all the changes I have made immediately. I showed it to a Windows user the other day and he was amazed. Then I showed him a search using classical Greek text (using OS X's unicode support) and he was absolutely blown away that it picked up every instance of that Greek term in all my documents and emails.

I thought that Dashboard would be fairly useless until I caught myself going to "Applications" to open the calculator for something. I also used Stickies a lot, but now use the Dashboard version.

Automator is brilliant and will only get better as more actions are released for it. Taking and converting screenshots used to be a laborious process for me, but now Automator does it all with one click.

I hate to sound like a total fanboi, but I cannot recommend Tiger enough.

Check this out (yes I rotate Desktops frequently).

I used an automator action to add "Aqua Desktop Picture" to a folder full of Aqua Style Desktop Pictures with one click. Automator opens up a dialogue and you can enter whatever Spotlight comments you wish to add. I am doing this to all my pics.

Nice job jimsnowden. The only problem is that the flag looks out of place. In the original the look of the flag looks warn due to the storm. Just the overall effect.

You did our flag proud though by restoring it to its original brilliance, thank you. Especially nice on Memorial Day. ;)
