My favorite is the bobble 'hula' Jesus (an option in the Hula Girl Widget).

I don't have Tiger yet, so I don't have a pic to post here - but I do have a quick question -

You have all those widgets on your screen, are they always there or in the background when you use another app? It just seems a bit cluttered to me...

The 'Dashboard' is like a fourth Exposé function. You hotkey/corner in to access, and hotkey/corner out when you're done.

They are permanently displayed on your screen. There is nothing you can do about it. Just kidding ... they are displayed only when you want to see them. They are typically utilities you would like to have at your fingertips without having everything open at the same time.

I see many of you have the translator widget - how often do you actually think you'll be using it?

Also, I imagine once the novelty wears off, you'll have totally different widget collections - we'll have to do a now and then thread in a year or so, so save all the images for comparison.

Is that weather widget the same one that comes standard from Apple? Why is yours blue and some others are purple? Is the color customizable? :)

What is yours set on, or did you modify it?

That seems a bit on the excessive side, doesn't it? You have 10 widgets and you eat up 200 Megs?!?!?

Better hope to have well over a gig in your machines to run things smoothly....

Yeah like someone else said, I think it is blue during the day and purple at night...So no way that I saw to customize the color.

When I first started it up it had already put in the St. Louis for the city for me automatically, but I was getting no weather updates. I had to actually put in my zip code for any data to show up.

If you use photobucket, the exact URL of your file with th_ in front of the filename is the thumbnail, already made for you.

This code:

<URL=http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y144/PatFrick/dash.jpg><img>http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y144/PatFrick/th_dash.jpg</img></URL>

Produces this:

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y144/PatFrick/th_dash.jpg (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y144/PatFrick/dash.jpg)

Except that you have to change the <> for [].

The image should be 118 pixels high, and as wide as you want (it will tile the image for you). Now log out and back in, VOILA! :D

Hmm, seems interesting... but about how often do hard drives report a failing status? If they do pretty often i'm definately using this, but if they don't I don't think it's worth the menubar space an RAM...
In all my years I've never encountered an internal one, but maybe I was just lucky!

Where did you get the ical widget

All my extra widgets were found at the Apple website, and probably all future ones will too. to me it acts as a sort of filter for security and quality. i'm assuming Apple won't let any faulty or insecure widgets out there, and i feel like they'll look better too.

... but you can find the iCal widget here: http://www.benkazez.com/icalevents.php

Here's my dashboard. all widgets gotten off of apple's site. Made modification to the weather widget so that its constantly up to date. Made changes to the worldbook day in history so that the link takes me to wikipedia.org and hacked the world clock to show my local cities (unfortunately that got lost or reset with 10.4.1 and I haven't felt motivated enough to do it again... :))

Puckhead -- LOL, the NHL lockout timer. Nice. :D I think I'm obsessed with widgets too. I think I need some kind of control in the back of my mind to tell me that using the amount of memory a widget needs to have an uptime timer is not a good use of resources! :D But then again, after initial stability issues with Tiger, I started keeping Terminal running, and to be honest, it hasn't been that useful except for checking uptime. Because as soon as I started keeping terminal going in the background, my computer stopped locking up!

Treehugger, which doppler widget is that? Is it the KM-USDoppler one? If so, does it ever "forget" which region you're in? I can't tell if you're in NE or MW right now, but when I tried that widget, I really liked it, except that it kept reverting to NE.... Maybe I need to give it another try. Its maps are an improvement over the standard US Doppler (which I use now).

I use the US Weather Plus 4.0 Widget. Works great. Haven't noticed it forgetting anything, but then again, I'm east coast. so if it would forget I wouldn't notice because thats where I have it anyway.

Sweet! Thanks! :) The issue I noticed was only with the KM widget for some reason. And this one seems a lot better! :D The only really cool thing about KM was that you could click on the doppler map to get a hi-res one (maybe 640x480-ish) in the widget itself. Actually, it seems that you can get the hi-res map in this widget in your browser by clicking. Nice.

Agreed, everyday when I look at my NHL Lockout Timer I feel pain. I feel as if I can not live another day without hockey. These past 246 days 1 hour 5 minutes and 7 seconds have been the most painful in my life. :(

It's celsius yes! A typical British morning - rainy, grey and cold (ish). ;) And I have to go and wait for the bus in it shortly. Lucky me! :D

I've been meaning to change my weather widget to °C instead of °F - you've inspired me to make the switch, jonat8.

Use the dashboard temperature convertor! :)

Threw out some of the old (e.g. the Wikipedia widget which became obsolete when I installed AcidSearch (http://pozytron.com/?acidsearch) in Safari).

Made room for some new ones...

Internet good. (http://www.sizes.com/units/temperature_Fahrenheit.htm) ;)

As the zero point on his scale Fahrenheit chose the temperature of a bath of ice melting in a solution of common salt, a standard 18th century way of getting a low temperature in the laboratory (and in the kitchen, as in an old-fashioned ice cream churn). He set 32 degrees as the temperature of ice melting in water. For a consistent, reproducible high point he chose the temperature of the blood of a healthy person (his wife), which he measured in the armpit and called 96 degrees. (The number arises from beginning with a scale of 12 intervals, like a one-foot ruler, and then doubling the number of steps as instruments become more precise, making 24 intervals, then 48, and finally 96.)

Where did you get the iTunes lyrics widget? I'd like to have that one. I checked Apple's widgets page and didn't see it.

Yeah, I found it at that site. Thanks for the link!

EDIT: I guess most of the music I listen to is too obscure for that widget to find the lyrics.

Thanks for the link, anyway. That's a cool site.

You know, I quite loved the lockout, since we had one hell of a season here in Germany with all the NHL players playing... :D
It could last another season you know... :p
