Just had a bit of a play with this. It's pretty cool :) The UI is quirky but well made, and the actual effects are nice (there's quite a few and they're pretty varied). Speed is good too (on an iPhone 4). Well worth giving a go if you're into retro graphics or just like some unique effects on your photos.

Couple of (minor) things that could be make it even better:
- The photo capture part - it's not obvious that it should be landscape, because the main UI is portrait and the standard photo capture UI is portrait. Maybe add an overlay to say "please use in landscape" or something? I wish apple provided landscape controls for that :)

- Real machines? E.g. the c64 and zx spectrum have some nice unique palettes. There's also a common limitation on some of these machines, where you can only have 2 colours in an 8x8 pixel block, but each block can use any colours from the palette. That gives a really cool look sometimes.

- Fullscreen preview. Maybe a button to show fullscreen, or rotate the phone to switch between the portrait UI and landscape preview?

Anyway, I like this. Good luck with it :)

Many thanks for the feedback and suggestions, Psonice. I have taken note of all of your comments and look forward to improving this app in future versions.

- I agree with you about the portrait vs. landscape issue. Future versions may include a custom camera interface and/or support for both landscape and portrait orientations, depending on the dimensions of the original image. Currently the images are "rendered" at the system's native resolution and then upscaled to common desktop resolution (e.g., 800x600).

- Although many of the included systems are based on real platforms in their color palettes etc., there is definite room for expansion and improvement to create even more authentic results. As you mention, a lot of systems have very specific hardware limitations that could be incorporated for even more unique results.

- Great suggestion for a full-sized image preview, thanks!
