The price of RAM from Apple has dropped in Europe! Well, at least in Belgium and the UK, didn't check the others.
An example: the price for upgrading a Mini from 256 MB to 512 MB just went down with 28.20 euros in Belgium.
This is goooood news :D , I'm glad I've waited just a bit to order my Mini!

Yes - the price drops are now more reasonable and might convince more people to go for 1GB (or other upgrades), as it's now not so much more than 3rd party sources and, of course, you wouldn't need to install it yourself.

It's still overpriced. Just not nearly as obscenely overpriced.

does anyone know what a apple store charges to install ram in to a Mac Mini? I am not so mechanically inclined and after seeing the images of how to take it apart I get visions of me either breakign something or scratching the case to all hell.. I think it would best be left to someone that has done it before (I would take it to the SF or Palo Alto strore since i dont trust my local Sacramento Store).

I agree, but just like Ed H, I wouldn't want to install it myself. I'm willing to pay a bit more to have my Mini delivered with the 512 MB already in the right place ;)

Here are some current US RAM prices from Apple. (And I agree--installation labor has value. I prefer to self-install, but not everyone does. Plus, RAM from Apple means ONE source for service issues.)

The Belgian store (and probably the rest of Europe) has the big red announcement about cheaper Ram on the BTO pages of all desktops, except the PM 1.8 GHz. Appearently, the iBooks and the PowerBooks don't benefit from the price drop (yet).
