Okay, you know Nintendo has been advertising the Nintendo DS, right?
"Touching is good"...
Then the hint towards the Revolution...
"Touching is good but feeling is better"...
Then the Aries rumor, that claims "squeezable" pressure sensing grips...
And of course, the way in Japan they stick Touch! before everything. Touch! Yoshi. Touch! Kirby. Touch! everything.
It makes you wonder if Nintendo is just out to make people shake their heads when they hear of their products.
Well, now their latest trespass.
They are releasing a dictionary program for the Nintendo DS.
So what do they call it?
Touch Dic.

Could they have THOUGHT of a worse name?
Somebody who reads Japanese PLEASE tell me that is some kind of sick joke...please....*eyes bleed*

Yes, it does, it's short for Dictionary.
But still...
They had *BETTER* change the name before the U.S. release. It's a really terrible name.

It's a dictionary... named DIC. What could it possibly stand for....?
Did you think perhaps that "DIC" isn't the best idea for a product intened for a consumer device operated by children?

There are SO many languages... If businessmen had to choose names sounding equally pleasant in all countries where the product is sold, we'd have only indexes. "product #123"

Well they often give different names in the US.
Touch Yoshi = Yoshi's Touch and Go
Touch Kirby = Kirby: Cursed Canvas
Just some examples.

But this does frequently come up as an issue. Buick recently changed a car name because of exactly this. There are lots of other examples. Of course, then there's the EU and their Windows XP-N Edition.

So what exactly makes you think we'll see a Korean Dictionary released in the US?

This is like when Datsun was planning on bringing one of their new sports cars to the US, and the one American in the room suggested they change the name first. Fortunately, they listened to him... the Japanese name for the car was 'Fairlady'. The American name: '240 Z'.
But 'Touch DIC' is just horrible, horrible.
Yes I read about the Touch Dic software earlier today. We certainly do not want this to become the latest example of the Evils of Gaming.
Now what will the Revolution version of this be called? Feel Dic maybe?

What will the Playstation version be called? Play with Dic?
OR the XBox one? Dic 360?

There are of course bigger markets and smaller markets. There are different product names for different countries.
But when I am buying a dictionary, I will buy a good one no matter what the name is. It's not THAT important, after all... Or is it? ;)
OR the XBox one? Dic 360?
Not the direction I want to see gaming go.
I wonder if PSP owners will boast that their Dic is bigger.

First off, that's Korean on the box not Japanese, so it could just be an elaborate joke/hoax, who knows...

I remember that company. They had a lot of decent cartoons. They pronounced DIC differently then what most people here are thinking: deek instead of dick.

Many ads have hidden sexual overtones. The Got Milk ads are an example.

Pac-man was originally called "Puc-Man," but someone had the foresight to see that every American kid with a sharpie would turn the P into an F with one stroke.
Maybe big N is creating games about shrubberys, donkeys, and balls as we speak. ;) :p

I just hope Nintendo never comes out with a EyeToy type attachment for the DS like they did the GBC.
Can you imagine the names?
TouchToy, playing off the EyeToy name...
What about... since you see yourself in the camera...Touch Yourself? *painful wince*

We will not, growing up is boring, and frankly if lived in a world were people did make stupid joke relating to penis's, vagina's, boobies, balls, and the like i think well, it wouldn't be a very fun world and very boring. :)

I think the U.S. market is too immature to be able to handle this title. I'm suprise this country allows Touch to be included in any ad.

Am I the only one that looks at this and thinks "A dictionary for the Nintendo DS? Why??"
Does it at least come bundled with a spiffy 3D version of Hangman? Maybe an extra gory version rated M.
