I have a Mac Mini (summer 2011 version) with a 5400rpm hard drive in it. It came with OS 10.7 Lion. I downloaded and installed Final Cut Pro X. But a 7200rpm hard drive is recommended for FCPX and now I can see why. FCPX is more sluggish than I'd like. So I bought a 7200rpm hard drive. Before I install the 7200 I have a question. How do I get my OS Lion and FCPX to run off of the 7200 drive? Thanks

Use an external enclosure. Put the new drive in the external enclosure. Connect to the MM and run Disk Utility to partition and format the new drive (GUID Mac OS Extended (journaled)). Then use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone your internal drive to the external. You can then boot to the external drive to check thing out. When you are happy, shutdown and swap drives.
