wow, i haven't seen one of those in a while, and i'm surprised that its not going for more to be honest, although it does have plenty of time left to accumulate some more bids....

It can run PAL, NTSC and VGA output at the flick of a switch, very clever and open minded of Apple/Bandai! Multi Region out of the box.

I think the vendor here has undersold this Pippin in his description; it should have gone for more I feel. I can see it is a manufactures prototype (possibly from Katz Media) from the SCSI connector on the back, it is also in the rare black case (assuming it's an atmark and not an @world). Also it seems to be on some sort of non-standard floppy dock, I can't actually see a slot for the floppy, I suppose it could even be a hard drive which would be VERY rare. In general Pippins without software do not sell for much as they will not run Mac software, Pippin software has to have the OS included with the game to run.

I think Sly is right it looks like a Development Unit from Katz. The dock I think is a book or something as it does not appear in the second shot of the back. Sometimes the Dev units that had a hard drive did not have a CD unit as space was tight, he did state that he had no games to play on it and wondered if he tried an audio CD in it. Nice though, and cheap!

Apple Pippin was something that was a flawed product, rushed out, features dropped, and not very many developers. Had a big following by bishujo game developers though. (Thats hentai games, or anime porn games, for you english folk ;) )

Lack of developers and hence lack of good games was the Pippins' downfall. The hardware was years ahead of the competion and the market leading Sony Playstation. The Playstation had hundreds of really great games and the best developers and The Pippin had ...none.
