So yesterday iOS5 came out and I successfully downloaded it, ready to install on my iPod Touch 3rd Gen; however, because my impromptu move away from home, where my iPod is generally synced, I'm not able to update/backup my iPod before update.

Now, iTunes has allowed me to transfer my apps across to this laptop, but I'm cautious about losing my in-app data should I update..

Does anyone have any advice more me on this matter, or will I have to wait until I go back home, update then and transfer stuff across?

Cheers in advance.

Out of curiosity, why can't you back up your iPod? I have a 3G Touch, and backed it up on my computer at work and updated it there. Of course I lost all my music and videos, but my game data and app data was preserved.
