I think notifications are missing a simple task - being able to mark items as read or delete them right from the slide down menu.

Anyone?

You can "clear" them from the pull-down Notifications menu. If you look closely, you'll see the option to clear/delete any given notification.

Right, but I mean actually delete or mark as read...sometimes I get txts I don't need to reply to...or spam...would love to swip to delete or mark as read.

yeah...this is easily my biggest gripe with ios 5 right now, yuo should absolutely be able to mark everything as read from the notification tray

I thought about this myself but came to the conclusion that I'd probably end up clearing important texts/emails/etc. and never end up reading them.
