I can't believe I could be the only one to ask about this issue, I did try looking for an answer for this but kept coming up with tons of threads to wade through.

Used to be that you could type in the main name of a url i.e." APPLE", and then hit control/enter or command/enter and Safari would auto add the http and .com. Is there a way to make this happen? I tried every key combination I could think of, maybe it's a DNS thing?

iMac running 10.7.2 and Safari Version 5.1.1 (7534.51.22)
