That was good, but what was mentioned in the article, "
Seth MacFarlane said an episode of "The Simpsons" where a Homer Simpson clone was identified as "Family Guy" dad Peter Griffin was "definitely a slam."
that was a good moment too. i'll have to do a google search and see if i can find it.
I would still choose The Simpsons in their prime over Family Guy anyday. But as it stands right now with the shows, Family Guy is better, and hopefully will keep getting better, as The Simpsons did back in the day.

Well, you'd be the only person to ever visit there, because it doesn't exist. :p
Anyways, I would expect Seth to know how to properly pronounce "Pawtucket" in Rho' Dylinese. It's "p'TUCKit" not "PAWtucket". But I guess I can let it slide, seeing as he's originally from CT :P
I actually figured as much... ;)
Interesting about the pronunciation, thanks for that little lesson! :)

When you go to post a message, the feature is under "Additional Options". Click "Manage Attachments" and you're on your way! Check out the screen grab I took below for further assistance (and, ironically, posted using the very method I just described! ;) )

I still find it really wierd. The show is funny, but not Family Guy funny. It just doesn't have that same type of humour. I preferred it when the episodes didn't have as much of a story and mostly took place in their house, at the factory or at the clam.

Agreed - last week's ranks up there for me as one of the best of the season. I really looked a lot of the jokes in the one where Meg gets a make-over as well (the whole lighting-yourself-on-fire scenes were so excessive...)

Wow, well welcome to the club! It's truly an awesome show, so you should go out and buy the DVD collections from the previous 3 seasons if you find you really like it. I'm not one for buying many DVDs, but I picked those ones up the day they were released - totally worth owning a copy of if you like the show.

I could probably rip the scene from my digital copy if you like. My only questions would be:
a) how do I do this? ;) Will iMovie be suffucient?
b) how will I get you the file? Do you have an FTP server?
We can PM about this offline, but I would appreciate guidance from anyone in general on how to edit an .avi in this manner, keeping in mind I don't have FCE, etc. :o

Alas, no. :( Can I import the whole thing into iMovie, then just crop everything else out except the scene? Or is there quality degredation when importing, then exporting with iMovie in such a manner?
Are there any little free video editing tools like this? Maybe I'll hunt around VersionTracker a bit...

Sorry, but this is over my head! As far as getting me the file, we can just transfer over IM, correct? I've transferred files this way before. Also, what about the "shared" file deal at a .mac account?
Again, sorry for my obvious cluelessness on these issues, but thanks for your help, I appreciate it.

not to pry, but how did you get the file? depending, the amount of degradation will not matter... as it's probably a lower quality than dv anyways... i would think that your method would work fine though, the imovie method that is.

It'll import it at full quality...just import the video, crop out that section, and then export it to a high quality MP4 (or whatever format you want). It should look fine...

No worries - I actually record them every week, so I end up with a nice ~170MB file when all is said and done. So you're right, the quality wouldn't matter too much, it's not DVD quality or anything. Nonetheless, it's still very good.

Cool :) Yeah, that whole scene went on WAY longer than I expected it to. That's one of my favorite parts of this show, when they overdo stuff like that. That must have been at least a solid 60-90 seconds of Peter, the kids and Brian all throwing up all over the furniture.
I still say the best two parts of last weeks episode were Stewie's diaper not being changed for like a week, and Tom Tucker tricking Diane with that whole 'if your hand is bigger than your face, you've got cancer' thing.

It was going to be a film in the theaters, then was going to go Direct to DVD, then they decided they were gonna air it as a 3 part episode of FG, and now its back to being a DVD. Anyhoo, its GREAT. Just be sure to have DivX 5/6 on your compy. anytime soon?
Season 4 hasn't even finished airing yet (not until September) so I wouldn't expect the DVD set to be out until 2006 for sure.

Was there a show screened last night? I'm looking forward to season 4 episode 11.
The shows not even shown here so I am forced to get it from other sources. :)
Oh, and from the movie I love -
"...I got pregnant with Meg and couldn't go - now I'm pro-choice"
"Tom, oooh, over here, I know this, Tom, Tom, over here, Tom!"
"The man you all respect so much - your beloved Peter Griffen"
"Good thing he didn't call on me, I was gonna say Grant Goodeve"

that is true, but theres also this urban legend that he quit doing the show because he was like "man after almost dying what am I doing making this crap". This is completely un-ture, as sad as it was, the show was cancelled, nobody was really watching consistently. I can't believe how many arguments at college I've had about this ... Fox cancels shows pretty easily ... way glad its back tho.

Yeah, she was just on that Adam Corolla show that comes on after the Daily Show. She does a bunch of voices, and characters on shows like MadTV. Glad you realize Lois isn't real, but I mean... she's a cartoon. A series of drawings and color.

http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/articles/seth.cfmThat is a great article.
I really like this...
Can all the characters hear Stewie when he talks?
The single most asked question about the show. They can, they can hear him and understand him, its just that he's a baby and for that reason they just don't take what he says with any seriousness.
So it's just funny that he wants to kill Lois?
Yeah, the best analogy I can come up with....there was an incident where my cousin's 4 year old son was leaving our house and he turned to my mother and said, "I'll see you in Hell." No one really knew where he picked that up, but everyone was laughing their asses off because here was this 4 year old telling my mother he would see her in hell.
He probably got it from TV!
He probably did. So basically, if you look at it like that, let's say hypothetically the kid was deadly serious, which Stewie was, people would still say, "Oh, isn't that cute." So they can understand him, they just didn't take it seriously.

That is the basis of Family Guy...that is how they do the show! It has been like that since day 1...its part of the humor, american dad is just seth mcfarlane trying to capitalize on Family Guys success...its basically the same thing but not funny...American Dad and Family Guy could live in the same neighborhood, but no one would like american dad in that neighborhood cause hes annoying

I know that it's a part of Family Guy and I like it, but what I don't like is the fact that they overdo it. The earlier seasons had a nice balance between the show's story and the outrageous side jokes, but now they just tend to rely on them too much.

you enter the code from the thing, that, at least in my copy, advertises season 3. the 7 digit code in the lower right. it's a code to get a windows-only family guy "screenmate." mine was stewie, i dont know if that's random or anything. it's a 2.2mb .exe file. haven't installed it yet. a cool thing is that in teh installation instructions it has a firefox screenshot :p
edit: it's just this annoying thing that hovers in the lower right of your primary monitor (cant be moved) and is annoying as...well something that's very annoying :p

Thats FOX's new technology - if they find you google "Family Guy Torrent" or "Download Family Guy" or "Family Guy Movie Download," Stewie goes 'I'm Going to Kill you!' and then moves over to your start button, clicks run, and kills your PC. NO STEALING!

Yeah, started yesterday night with Family Guy (Starting with Season 3) and American Dad (Season 1)
I guess with Family Guy still broadcasting Season 4 (In terms of DVD boxset) Fox will wait until that is complete before shipping it over to the UK for broadcasting here
Still its pretty cool, the BBC is trying to improve their service in general so hope more is to come :)

Just a note, there are NO TREES that close to downtown Providence
Also, you'd never see Brown U. playing to a home crowd that big, unless they were laying a smackdown on URI.
Again.
I loved the reference to Snoopy Come Home :D
And to prove I have no life, the voice used for "Steven" (the professor) was Fred, at just above normal speed.
Last point, they aren't talking about Roger Williams National Memorial, which is 4.5 acres, and contains grass, and a few trees. I'd say it's the most dense forest in Providence itself ;). They were talking about this one (http://www.rogerwilliamsparkzoo.org/). A tad bit bigger.

That's the second Transformers reference I can remember. There was another where Optimus Prime walks in and puts on a yamulke. I also recently saw one that Cobra Commander in it.
Sometimes I think that, in addition to all the chances the show takes, what appeals to me is that Seth MacFarlane is clearly about the same age as me and most of the '80s references hit me right in the gut. Stuff I haven't thought about in years is suddenly funny again.

There are some parts of the show that no one outside Rhode Island will get, and others that any native Ro' Dylinduh will notice are just wrong. Like Lois' accent. It's from Cranston, but she's (presumably) from Newport. Except I don't think anyone lives in the "summer cottages" anymore. They don't say "wicked" enough, and now that Narragansett Ale is being brewed again, I'd love to see a fight between Pawtucket Pat and someone from the 'gansett brewery.
