I loved the Pinochio part of the first episode.I loved Stewie's line: "Ahhh... it's good to own land." And Peter's opening bit with all of the shows that have come and gone since Family Guy was "canceled".

I liked from the last episode when Stewie said to Louis:
Well, whatever helps you sleep at night b*tch.
And
Peter: i wish I was a tampon....Now....we play the waiting game. :p

My favorite is now, from the second episode, Fast Times at Buddy Cianci Jr. High, "Yeah whatever helps you sleep at night, bitch" or whatever from stewie.

I was laughing out loud at the tampon joke too. And when Stewie blew a blood vessle in his eye trying to fart... awesome. I've got it on TiVo, and might just have to watch it again. Man am I glad this show is back.

Yeah, the 2 things I busted out laughing at in that episode were when Stewie blew the blood vessel in his eye and the "Watch out for the stairs!"

As an avid Family Guy viewer since it first aired (and was cancelled, then brought back, then cancelled, then brought back and finally rescheduled, then cancelled...) I have to say ep 402 was one of the worst. Family Guy (like the earlier years of The Simpsons) was always good at using over-the-top, crude humor to make an intelligent point and sometimes to use intelligent humor to make a crude point. 402 used primarily crude humor to make crude points -- I felt like I was watching South Park. 401 was one of the best, so there's still hope for this fourth season and I will watch every episode. Thanks to the many, many people who bought the DVDs and showed Fox that the show IS popular and just needed a stable time slot to prove it.

You know, it's funny, I kind of thought the same thing after watching it too - it just seemed a little more crass than usual, and not as tastefully done - but yet in the end, I still laughed my ass off! It's still one of my favorite shows and I'll be watching every episode without a doubt.

peter says to the hot substitute....
paraphrased from memory
"hmm how to put it...." pauses trying to find the right words. "our son chris... wants to... plow you"
and after he and lois leave the teacher's office initially, peter returns and says,
"ms. whatever, i don't mean to impose but, do you have a picture of yourself that i can tape to the back of lois's head?"
haha. stellar....

In the cheesy charlies episode, Peter is like "aw man brian im screwed. All i could get on such short notice was a cake and this big ass piniata" (image of Piniata shaped like a behind appears) Brian then says "I hope candy comes out of that!"

That's a classic one! And thanks for linking that quote to that episode, I could never remember which episode that one came from. ;) That's the problem with the Family Guy, they always have so many of those hilarious "Remember the time when..." scenes that are completely unrelated to the story, and it's tough to remember which episodes they're from!

I think what he is talking about is that in some of the earlier episodes, it sounds like Stewie says "F'n cry" as opposed to "laugh'n cry". I'm not sure why, but in the later episodes it is more more clearly "laugh'n cry".

I'm not sure why, but in the later episodes it is more more clearly "laugh'n cry".In the closed captioning of the early episodes (on TV, not sure about the subtitling on the DVDs), it's clearly captioned as "f'in cry". Later on, it was changed to "laugh and cry". I'm sure that Seth wanted it to be vague enough to get away with Stewie swearing in the title sequence, but the captioning gave it away.

Not at all, I think they're great! Perhaps you just had your expectations set too high. Here are some tidbits.
The Simpsons ratings were down about 20% from last week's 350th episode double, still scoring a solid figure of 9.2 million viewers over the course of the hour in which the episodes A Star Is Torn and Thank God It's Doomsday aired. At 9pm, Fox showed it made the right decision on bringing back Family Guy, the second episode for the fourth season, although down on last week, scored 9.7 million viewers. The show has outrated The Simpsons in the last two weeks. American Dad at 9:30 had just 18% of its Family Guy lead in tuning out, 8.2 million people tuning in overall.
Season 16 ended on Sunday night with two new episodes, 'Home Away From Homer,' and 'The Father, The Son, & The Holy Guest Star.' In what was one of Fox's last few hopes of increasing its performance in the May sweeps, an average of 8.7 million viewers watched The Simpsons over the 8pm hour, down on the previous two weeks. The big result was Family Guy's huge figure of 9.3 million viewers, and the Simpson-nearing figure of 8.1 million viewers for American Dad. The night was a big one for all networks, with CBS airing the finale of Survivor Palau and ABC with the unstoppable Desperate Housewives. While 20 million people tuned into Survivor, ABC came home with the win overall for the night, with NBC and FOX sitting at third and fourth place respectively

Simpsons is starting to lose its appeal, finally..lol I watched the last episode about a medieval school play, and it wasn't very good. They are running out of jokes and quickly too. There's just so much anyone could take of Homer's antics. However, the whole ribbing on Catholicism was very funny though.

Like I said, Simpsons haven't been the same for a long time, nothing like when Conoan O'Brien was producing, etc. I tune into an epsiode now and then, and it just doesn't do it for me - I find myself rolling my eyes or getting annoyed more than anything at the re-hashed, unoriginal plots and jokes. Homer isn't funny anymore. In a word, LAME.
The Simpsons should have learned the lesson that it's always best to leave on a high note - and they should have learned it about 10 years ago.

Meh, I could care less at this stage. Maybe they'll get the "longest" record, but not the "best". They basically screwed themselves out of that one by dragging out the show for so long... not that Simpsons was ever the "best", but back in the day is was pretty damn good...

Last night was the first time I really laughed at American Dad. Some of the jokes like when they wanted the daughter to say grace, but she said something like she wasn't religious and then what the brother said ;). Or when they were trying to decide if the alien was dead and they stabbed his eye. I think they are starting to figure out those characters and the humor for each one. It doesn't seem like they are using the talking fish much anymore though, not that removing it was a bad decision, they already have another talking animal on a different show.

Just wanted to let you guys know that Family and American Dad have both been extend for another season... 22 for Family Guy and 18 for American Dad. But, let me say a little about yesterday episode, American Dad was ok and Family Guy was just as good...American Dad made me sleep by the 2/3 act, so, that doesn't say much for the episode...Future Family guys will be better and,of course, some will standout more than others but some of your guys' remarks make it seems that Family Guy is just not funny anymore...what the hell do you want? It's already one of the funniest show on TV, bar none! I've seen previous season's episode and they were funny, and they were good but, honestly, the stuff in the pipeline is awesome....As I've been saying since OCT. of last year, this season will blow up..It is hell of funny and just classic material.....Sperm dumpster....Come on!

I found the recent episode to be just as funny as the other Family Guy's this season, I think some people are having too high expectations. Sure, maybe some of the episodes haven't been as funny as the funniest episodes from the previous years, but as another poster said, come on, what do you want! Even if these episodes aren't quite as funny, it's all relative, and they're still pretty damn funny! It's still a great show and I'll be enjoying every episode until Fox cancels it again. ;)

The success of the 'Family Guy' DVDs prompted the release of a full-length feature movie.
LOS ANGELES (June 20) - "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane is preparing his long-awaited direct-to-DVD movie based on the exploits of his cartoon clan for a Sept. 27 release.
"It's been an enormous undertaking to juggle this with doing 35 new episodes of the show, but we think it turned out great," MacFarlane said of the film, his first full-length feature, and the first direct-to-video ever made off a television franchise.
The 83-minute, unrated "Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story" ($29.98) is based on the animated series MacFarlane created for Fox Television in the late 1990s. The irreverent series, aimed at adults rather than kids, went on the air in early 1999 and was canceled in 2003, only to be resurrected last month after an overwhelming demand for the show on DVD.
The first DVD set sold more than 2.5 million units, the second-highest sales tally of any TV-DVD release behind the first season of "Chappelle's Show," and two subsequent packages lifted the "Family Guy" franchise's total sales to about 4.5 million units.
That prompted Fox to take the unprecedented step of bringing back the show. The new season debuted in May and has since featured a bevy of guest voices, including Drew Barrymore, Jessica Biel, Jennifer Tilly and Adam West.
"Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin" is something of a thank you to the show's fans who bought so many DVDs, MacFarlane said. "Fox had such a great amount of success with the previous DVD releases that I think they felt there was a built-in, surefire market for a 'Family Guy' DVD," he said. "It's also a lot easier to put out a DVD release than it is a theatrical film while you're doing a television series."
The movie finds Stewie, the maniacal baby genius, having a near-death experience that prompts him to change his ways. Instead of seeking to dominate the world, he sets out on a road trip to find his real father.
Guest vocal talent includes Barrymore and Ron Livingston, as well as three cast members of "Beverly Hills, 90210" -- Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling -- "in a special gag," MacFarlane said.
The DVD will include several special features, including deleted scenes, still galleries, animatics and a commentary from MacFarlane.
"We also sandwiched special features around the movie," he said. "It begins with an animated movie premiere, with the family arriving to watch it, and then there's an after-party at the end."
20th Century Fox Home Entertainment is planning the biggest marketing campaign ever for a TV-spawned release, according to division worldwide president Mike Dunn. Plans include national print and TV advertising as well as a viral marketing campaign targeting college students at bars, clubs and fraternity parties; special screenings will be held for college students.

The success of the 'Family Guy' DVDs prompted the release of a full-length feature movie.
Yay! I just hope it doesn't focus around Stewie too much. I don't want the whole thing just to be about him.

American Dad is funnier. More topical humor. And two animal sidekicks are better than one, of course, if you consider Stewie to be an animal then its tied.

Im sure most know thats a ripoff of the secene from Animal House where John Belushi is on the ladder watching the girls in the sorority have a pillow fight. Awesome scene, especially for people who have seen Animal House before TV edited it :D

Finally got around to watching last night's episode. I thought it was pretty good. One thing I didn't like though was that there were no flashbacks or other funny things like that, that they usually do. It stuck to much to the plot and wasn't as random. And the randomness is what I used to like about Family Guy.

My favorite bit from this past episode was Stewie slapping away the "airplane" spoonful of food, making a JFK Jr. crack about it, and then admitting that it was probably in poor taste. :)
Even more timely considering what happened to one of the Waltons today... I wonder what will happen to Wal-Mart when all of its founding family are gone? (Hopefully it will shrivel and DIE like a demon condemned back to the Hell from whence it came.)

Uggh...one can only hope, but if the way they pop up down here is any indication, that will probably not be the case. Soon there will Super-Wal-Marts across the street from EACH campus of the school I work at (35 miles apart from each other). Bleh

Its not the family that makes walmart walmart. The money will mostly be gone in 3 generations. That seems to be the pattern. It will go to various charities and universities or will be lost in the next bubble. Actually with that much money among 7 people it might last an extra generation.
Walmart will continue to grow until it reaches saturation , turns from its core or gets smacked down through either anti-trust lawsuits or producer revolt.
Walmart is based on a rather intriguing concept of a purchaser monopoly rather than the more traditional provider monopoly. Everyone whinges on Walmart's bland homogeneousness and usurping the local merchants, the thing is that Walmart really puts the screws to providers. They sell fabric for $1 less a yard because they buy it for 50c less a yard, save 25c on economies of scale and are willing to eat the remaining quarter and make less money.

Couldn't find the number of episodes this season, but did find this bit of info...
More information about the Family Guy DVD-movie, Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story Unrated, have been released by Fox:-
“In this exclusive 83 minute DVD premiere, featuring brand new, never before seen content, Stewie, the maniacal baby genius, is distracted from his plans for world domination when he sees a man who looks just like him on television. Convinced that this man must be his real father (after all, how could he possibly share genetic material with the dimwitted Peter?), Stewie sets off on a cross-country road trip to find him. But his incredible journey leads him to discoveries far more vile and shocking that anything found in his diaper.
The DVD will be released on September 27, 2005

The reason the episodes are "out of order" (three episodes which should have been aired about four weeks ago, well, weren't) is because THOSE THREE EPISODES are the episodes for the FAMILY GUY STRAIGHT-TO-DVD MOVIE!

From the new TV Tome, www.tv.com, is the list of all episodes:
51: North by North Quahog 5/1/2005 4ACX01 2 reviews 8.6
52: Fast Times at Buddy Cianci Jr. High 5/8/2005 4ACX02 1 review 7.9
53: Blind Ambition 5/15/2005 4ACX04 7.9
54: Don't Make Me Over 6/5/2005 4ACX03 10 reviews 8.6
55: Stewie B. Goode (1) 0/0/0 4ACX05 6.1
56: Bango Was His Name Oh (2) 0/0/0 4ACX06 6.7
57: Stu & Stewie's Excellent Adventure (3) 0/0/0 4ACX07 6.7
58: The Cleveland-Loretta Quagmire 6/12/2005 4ACX08 19 reviews 6.3
59: Petarded 6/19/2005 4ACX09 23 reviews 6.7
60: Brian the Bachelor 6/26/2005 4ACX10 19 reviews 6.1
61: 8 Simple Rules for Buying My Teenage Daughter 7/10/2006 4ACX11 7.5
62: Breaking Out Is Hard to Do 0/0/0 4ACX12 6.7
63: Model Misbehavior 0/0/0 4ACX13 7.1
75: Patriot Games 0/0/0 4ACX25 0.0
In bold are the episodes that were aired already.
There are 14 episodes in that list, three are out of order, they are all connected (1)(2)(3) and are now the movie.
There will only be 11 episodes for season four
Season 1 had 7 episodes
Season 2 had 21 episodes
Season 3 had 22 episodes.
Season 1 and 2 were bundled together for the DVD. Season 3 was sold alone. I assume that season 5 (which was picked up already by FOX) will have 11 to 14 episodes, making 22 to 25 episodes (when combined) for a DVD box set.
As you see, there are only four more episodes this season, three after next week (no eppy tomorrow :().
Then, it will be the summer schedule, which translates to RERUNS, and then season 5.
Hope this helps!

I thought I heard like 30 something episodes were picked up by FOX, three of which are now the movie, so 27, which would sound more Season 4 + 5 together... 11 for season four and 16 for Season 5, which is still less than season 2 or 3.
Of course, thats saying exactly thirty episodes - I thought 34 was used a couple of times...
Either way, there wont be more than 22 episodes in Season 5, so add Season 4 and thats 11 + 22 which equals 33 episodes.
OR, there could be season 4, 5, and 6 at 11 episodes each, which would suck because we want more episodes per season, not more seasons with less episodes.

Agreed, I'd much rather prefer to see more episodes per seasons than fewer episodes strung across multiple seasons. I realize that in the end, the result is the same, but I hate having to wait through months of reruns until a new season starts. ;)

Yes, I own the DVD, it's great. :) It's only for Season 1 and a bit of 2, so I have downloaded the other episodes so I have the complete collection now. When Season 2 comes out on DVD I'll be buying it as well though.
Interesting, as one of the Season 2 episodes, "Blackwatch Plaid", wasn't on the first DVD set, even though it should have been - perhaps all the 9-11 sensitivity made them not include it, just like the Osama joke on that one episode of Family Guy which they later cut out.

Hey Shard, what was the Osama joke that got cut out?
Was it in the Petoria episode?
Actually the episode was "Road to Rhode Island", when Brian goes to pick up Stewie from visiting his grandparents in Palm Springs, and they miss their flight home due to Brian's drunkeness, Brian ultimately searches down his (dead) mom, etc.
When they're in the airport, Stewie distracts the security guards by singing a song so that they don't watch the X-Ray machine and see his bag full of weapons going through. After he passes through, he scoffs and says, "Lets hope Osama Bin Laden doesn't know show tunes!" at which point Osama steps up and starts singing, "I hope I get it, I hope I hope I get it!" etc. while his bag of weapons goes through.
Since this aired pre-9-11, they cut it out of all future airings and cut it out of the DVD version of the episode as well. I am lucky and have the originally aired episode on VHS still.

Stewie sings "On the Good Ship Lollipop", from the familyguyfiles The song OSAMA BIN LADEN sings to distract airport security is from the 1975 broadway show A CHORUS LINE called I HOPE I GET IT which is part of an on-stage 'audition' that opens the show. He sings (a messed up version) of the line "ALL God, I hope I get it. I hope I get it. How many people does he need? BOYS How many people does he need? GIRLS God, I hope I get it." I think his actual words were "... How many people does he need, how many boys, how many girls?" Wether it was successful or not, we'll never know
Also, I think we should conduct an informal poll. How many people here want to visit Quahog RI? :D

By the way, did anyone notice the quality of this episode (video wise) was not the same as every episode this season? This leads me to believe the reason this episode was so much funnier than all the others is because its from an earlier season, like season 2 or so. Also, Megs voice sounds different.

Wow! The like 5 minute vomit scene, priceless.
I was laughing so hard at that. Normally stuff like that kinda grosses me out. But that was great.

Not sure if it was from another season, but man, it was so funny.
It was just non stop jokes and flashbacks.
I loved the part where they go to see Les Misérables.
That was gold.

Wow! The like 5 minute vomit scene, priceless. That was a funny scene. Read your post before seeing the episode so I came in expecting a long vomit scene.... was not 5 minutes. Great though. That scene was hilarious to high heaven. This is the funniest Family Guy episode yet.

Well, you'd be the only person to ever visit there, because it doesn't exist. :p
Anyways, I would expect Seth to know how to properly pronounce "Pawtucket" in Rho' Dylinese. It's "p'TUCKit" not "PAWtucket". But I guess I can let it slide, seeing as he's originally from CT :P
